The thing was that Fallon had a decent hangout show when he took over “Late Night,” but the “Tonight Show” with him is just unwatchable. He’s a terrible interviewer and the games aren’t even fun to watch any more. Like, at least Leno could get through an interview without giggling and clapping 100 times.
Final guest was Paul McCartney reminiscing on The Beatles playing on Ed Sullivan in that same studio over 60 years ago
I think they’ll keep Oliver around. He gets ratings and is kind of an institution with HBO now. I think Kimmel is likely the next to go because his contract is up in the next year, I believe. Either that or (hopefully) Bill Maher and that’s just hoping that maybe Maher’s weirdo diet poisons him and he goes the way of Jordan Peterson.
Fallon and Kimmel will absorb a lot of those Colbeet viewers so they might last a little while longer.
Colbert seems to be an acquired taste. I saw the “Monroe” piece a couple days ago. I love there was no laughter and things just dropped and moved on. No audience. Just Jack white.
Colbert who worked on The Dana Carvey show and co-created Strangers With Candy seems like an entirely different guy now
