I thiiink in chronological order, once you finish Ellie's sequence at the aquarium, the rest of the game plays mostly as it originally would starting with Abby reaching the island, then going all the way through the ending (minus the last flashback). I'm a little bit past Yara's last scene and it still makes me so sad. Poor Lev losing his mom and sister back to back like that

 

finished! i think the ending is more devastating without that last flashback placed there. chronological order as a whole isn't necessarily a better or worse way to experience the story, it's just different, recontextualizing and giving new perspective to events, so in that sense i think it was worth an additional playthrough. knowing what comes next, it was like, oh, this is the last time Abby is gonna interact this character before Ellie kills them in the next sequence. it reinforces the theme of Ellie losing parts of herself and her humanity to this obsession for revenge.
