  1. Establishing a relationship between Dina and Joel is one of the changes I like the most this season. Immediately gives her stronger motivations imo.

I think it’s clear there is something there with Dina. It’s obviously subtle vs the game where they have their high hook up at Eugene’s pretty early on.

I could've sworn I saw someone here say Halley Gross wasn't involved in this season but I checked and sure enough she is. So yeah both game writers + Craig, the show is in good hands.

Restarted the game (I actually never finished it, and just caught up to where I left it). Man I hope in the Seattle flashback episode the show goes deeper into the lore behind The Prophet and the founding of the Seraphites.

I like the change that Dina is accompanying Ellie because she also wants justice instead of just going to support Ellie. Adds much more to the character with that direction

  6. But she can still be unabashedly gayyyyy. Why she say she not? You don't need to take one thing away (or in this case make it a slow burn or whatever) to make the other thing stronger. Such a weird dialogue choice imo

  7. I always thought her being with Jesse before meant she was bi.

Do you think it will be harder for the TV writers to get the audience to feel for Abby? Everyone loved Joel in the game, but I feel like getting people to feel for Abby in the show will be harder because everyone loves Pedro and casual audiences won’t want to look at Abby sympathetically.

Gonna be very interesting how they do it

Info from ViewerAnon who has seen all the episodes This is still going to happen. They essentially said she's toying with Ellie and will talk about always knowing she was queer in a later epsiode

I took that line to be her like just being in denial or trying to do damage control. Assuming she never talked openly about having feelings for women, and then she kisses Ellie and immediately gets called a slur, on top of the fact that it's now complicated her relationship with her best friend, it makes sense that her response to that would be to just shove it all back down. It's another thing that seems to be affected by the 3 month time jump - she actually had to live with the consequences of that night in this story in a way she didn't in the game.

I am deep into Abby's part in the game now and was just thinking how tricky it is going to be getting the non-game playing audience to sympathize with Abby. The game did it, but it'll be impressive if the show pulls it off too.

Oh god I hope fans don't do "Team Ellie vs Team Abby" bullshit

  14. I figured that's more or less what they're going for, I'm just skeptical of whether or not theyll be able to pull it off in a satisfying way

  15. No it didn't. Even ppl who've finished the game still hate her and wish Ellie killed her. I have zero faith in the tv-only audience. No one has empathy anymore

Between this and Andor we are having a real "sacrificing a future of love and happiness in the pursuit of justice/vengeance" Spring

I never liked Abby but I’m glad Ellie didn’t kill her. It helps with the revenge is poison storyline. I can see why it’s not cathartic for some people, though. I don’t expect the tv audience to be any less polarizing on the matter either. People want revenge for Joel

Comparing the two Ellie does way more fucked up shit in her quest for revenge than Abby. She tortures someone, purposely infects people, kills unarmed people, murders a pregnant girl. The couple of fucked up things Abby does are somewhat reasonable (she only kills Joel and Jesse), and also Abby spares Ellie and others multiple times from the start. But she killed the fan's favorite mass murderer I guess so fuck her.

The juxtaposition of Ellie killing Mel and Abby sparing Dina hopefully is gonna hit hard and be very explicit in live action.

Watching some non-game player reactions to episode 2 and one thing they're specifically hung up on with Abby is that she indirectly caused the infected to attack Jackson, which doesn't happen in the game. "She caused more harm than Joel ever did" was a quote I heard. Like that aspect seemed to diminish the intended morally ambiguous nature of what she did with Joel.

That seemed to tip the scales against Abby in the casual fans eyes. In replaying the game I realized that was kind of unnecessary.
