Episode 3 was good. Liked seeing everyone mourn Joel. I wasn't crazy about the three month time jump. That urgency and desperation to track down Abby and her friends was something I was missing in this episode.

 

I was thinking the same and I only finished the game a couple of weeks ago haha. I did start it about 2 years ago, but stopped playing not long after you first play as Abby in Seattle, so there’s a lot I’ve forgotten. Playing again would help fill in the blanks.

 

got to Yara and Lev! thennn left them again.
I forgot how scary the hanging scene is. and Yara getting her arm crushed is so fucking hard to watch. (they mentioned in the commentary that to film that scene, Laura actually had a rope around her neck! and a harness around her body to keep her safe. all that for mocap. crazy work). the fight where Abby's waiting for them to open the door from the outside is even more terrifying in black and white, this filter is doing a lot of work.
is it weird that I'm more emotionally invested in Yara and Lev than I am Tommy and Jesse (they're cis dudes)? than Owen and Mel (they're white)? ...am i sexist/racist???

 

On the topic of Yara and Lev, I’m a straight white man and I felt the exact same way in comparison to the other characters you mentioned. Lev might actually be my favorite character in the entire game. Truly hope they get them/him right next season.

 

I really hope they cast the same motion capture actor who played Yara as Yara.

 

Ian Alexander would have been cool to have back as Lev too but they’d be too old for the part now I think

 

I both am and am not looking forward to the Lev and Yara part of the story, whenever that may be. Can't help but feel they'll expand on it more and include their mum in it and maybe how the escaped the Seraphites too.

 

Seriously not looking forward to Yara's death as I very nearly gave up like I did after Joel's death. Had to put the pad down and walk away when it happened haha

Same lol I'm replaying Part One right now and very anxious to get to Part Two because I really am hazy on a lot of the details.

 

Me too, I've been watching a replay on Youtube on 1.5x to get refreshed.

 

So seraphite heavy Episode 5 and I guess day 1 is a nod to the Seattle story for Ellie and Dina.

 

I'm definitely going through the game a lot faster this time around bc before anytime I missed too many shots, used too much ammo or too many health packs, or heck, got detected in stealth, I'd reload a checkpoint or restart the encounter. The scarcity of resources made that feel essential. Now I'm throwing pipe bombs all over the place. But since I'm not constantly looking for crafting materials, I'm probably also not picking up as much stuff to upgrade skills and weapons

 

I hope we get the shambler in episode 4. There’s been zero indication of it in the trailers/previews but I would love if one just shows up and melts some poor guys face off or something.

 

I think we might, I believe they said we were getting more than one new type of infected. And I don’t think it’s possible the rat king is this season.

 

I feel like publications will be falling all over themselves to spoil ratking once its imminent

 

I’d love to go and play the games again but I’m an awful gamer and the Ratking would take me forever to beat again.

i'm with abby tho, the skybridge is fucking insane, and i don't think i have an irrational fear of heights, i think i have a pretty rational fear of heights when it's that fucking high

 

I'm not sure I'm remembering this completely right, in the commentary it's mentioned that apparently Yara was supposed to be trans and Lev was supposed to die instead AND Abby was supposed to die in the end, but Laura and Ian had such great chemistry that the story was rewritten to be what it is now.

 

neat how they're introducing the Abby campaign stuff earlier. seraphite stuff and all that. mazin's a smart dude.

it's one of the most memorable parts of the game for me. hope the show does it justice

 

Pretty sure it was Lev and Yara saving Abby that started to bring me round on Abby. Before that, I was pretty much hate playing for hours just to finish it haha

 

One thing I am appreciating about the show this season is that we’re getting moments we didn’t get in the game. It fills in the gaps.

I know some people weren’t fans of revealing Abby’s motive early, or her monologue, but you have to imagine those moments actually occurred in the world of the game while we were playing as Ellie looking for Joel so it was cool to see.

I also thought it was powerful seeing Ellie crawl to Joel, Tommy take care of Joel’s body, and then seeing Ellie freak out when she woke up. Just these small heavy moments that add some extra emotional weight.

 

I agree for the most part but making the Ellie and Dina relationship a slow burn feels so off to me. You got three in-universe days to develop their relationship and all the while it's as if Dina went on this quest for Joel and not for Ellie

 

It makes sense to me with how they did it. They go from Jackson that's covered in snow to Seattle which seem like it is late spring/early summer. So they probably added the hospitilization for Ellie so they could have time jump to make the change in weather to be believable.

Also both writers from the game are involved and Druckmann has said they were using this opportunity to re-do some story aspects to make more sense. I'll trust them on the changes until there something egregious.
