I thought I read golf trip was EP2 but I still think EP1 fits much more better and lets the season go at a decent speed instead of waiting 120 minutes for tee time. Do it at 60 minutes and let's get in with the aftermath.

 

Review embargo for the season allegedly lifts an hour after the premiere airs. For what it’s worth.

 

They must be pretty confident in it then. Can’t wait to see it.

 

idk how to read that. either yeah it could be really good and they are holding off for a big push the night of or they're holding off because they still want people to tune into the premiere even though it's a mess.

The embargo being up after it airs on HBO makes sense, Joel is going to die the first episode then. Don’t think you could review that without talking about it and it would end up everywhere, even though the story has been known for years.

 

i mean im not saying i think it'll suck. i loved season 1. im just not parsing much from an embargo date.

 

didn't we get word on the severance premiere and finale a few days before they went up? usually it's spoiler-free and just whether the reviewer liked it or not

 

I think the issue is they want this to have a Ned Stark-like impact. I think it’s more in regard to articles like “The Last of Us star on that shock ending” immediately after it ends before some people can watch it.

 

Sounds like the cold open is Abby finding her dad, which will definitely change the audience experience compared to the game.

 

I think that’s a good move.

The game’s structure didn’t really work for me. I’m down to move some things around to play some moments in a different light.

 

I like how the game is structured but I can totally understand them switching it up for the show.

 

Started my replay of the game last night in prep for S2 of the show. Haven't played it since the original release on PS4. My first playthrough was about ~31hrs, so I'm hoping to get through it quicker on new game+. I tend to wander around too much looking for collectibles ha,

Pretty much lol. Like I already said, I think it's a matter of WHEN it happens not if. It'll be a while but I do think we'll see it......eventually haha. I just hope he doesn't have it influenced in any way by the TV show and when/how production for that would happen because it WOULD be a while now. Don't rush anything like GoT.

 

Yeah a third game isn’t coming any time soon. Jason Schreier said today Intergalactic is not not planned to be released in 2026.

There are two reasons why we change certain context or move certain things up in the story. One of which [is that] you start the game and play as Abby, so you immediately form an empathic connection with her because you're surviving as her. You're running through the snow, you're fighting Infected, and we can withhold certain things and make it a mystery that will be revealed later in the story. We couldn't do that in the show because you're not playing as her, so we need other tools. And that context gave us that shortcut.

Something similar happened in season 1, where the game starts with you playing as Sarah, and we didn't have to do a lot of heavy lifting for you to care about Sarah, because you're playing as her, you're experiencing the outbreak as her. In the show, we had to spend quite a bit of time to achieve something similar. So, that was one reason.

Another reason is where that revelation happens in the game. If we were to stick to a very similar timeline, viewers would have to wait a very, very long time to get that context. You would probably get spoiled between seasons, and we didn't want that. So, it felt appropriate for those reasons to move that up and give viewers that context right off the bat.

 

Sounds like episode 2 for the tee time!

 

I assume he will be around throughout the season in various flashbacks or whatever but god people that don’t know what’s coming are going to be so mad lol

 

Am I forgetting something about the word “11” that makes us think that’s episode 2?
