What a way to finish. They followed the game very closely when they needed to and the extra scenes they added were perfect. Honestly not much more to be said they absolutely nailed it and executed it wonderfully. I just started playing through part 2 the other day and it’s making me very excited for season 2. Hopefully the wait isn’t too too long. thank goodness we got the giraffes (but I think there would have been riots if we didn’t). And also, in my play though of the game I chose not to kill the nurses which seemed like the more unpopular choice, but glad to see the show adaptation agreed with me.
Yeah I definitely think I'm going to restart the second game in the next few days, I've still only played through it once weirdly
I have been planning on starting playing part 2 for a few weeks now and of course last week I ended up seeing 2 major spoilers (one thanks to this thread ), so I figure I need to get through playing asap so I don't see any other spoilers good luck to those who haven't and won't be playing the second game
Gotta finish up my replay of part 1 then I think I’ll do one for part 2, I like being depressed continuously
I know what happens in the next season due to odd circumstances. Never played the first one but during the early days of the pandemic (like those first few months where we were afraid to leave the house for any reason), my wife and I watched our roommate at the time (along with his wife) pretty much play through the entire second game, except the very beginning. It gets very very dark.
What an amazing first season. Out of all the video games that have been adapted to movies/tv shows this is hands down the best one and most faithful adaption from game to show. A lot of amazing set pieces pulled straight from the game and 1:1. They did such and amazing job. Give me season 2 asap. I feel bad for non game players trying to avoid spoilers till season 2 comes out. Also any person who has played the 2nd game knows the meaning behind the prolonged look at the dead surgeon and what it means for events in season 2.
this was really great on the whole. how the first game ends is one of the few things I already knew, apart from the uhh Big Thing in Part 2. didn't really mind in this case because it just contributed to that looming sense of dread I felt really cool seeing Ashley and Laura as a big Critical Role fan. even with just 5 minutes Ashley probably gave one of the best performances this season. I sometimes forget what a phenomenal actor she is my one complaint which kind of stretches across the season is that I think we should have got time to know Marlene and some of the Fireflies. the ending would hit even harder if we'd got to spend some time with them now and again, as it is they're ever so slightly faceless which absolves Joel of a little responsibility for what he does
I completely agree with your complaints, except for me they're not minor. The show felt really rushed and when you consider that one episode is dedicated to Bill and Frank, and another to the DLC Left Behind (not even a part of the main game), we get what feels like shockingly little time with Joel and Ellie. I don't think their relationship feels as earned in the show as it did in the game. I still enjoyed the show but it needed two or three more episodes to flesh things out a bit more. For me, the game is still the best version of this story by far.
What a superb season of television. Excellent from start to finish. I think the only episode they could have changed up was episode 4. Looking back, they spent too long in Kansas. But then, maybe we don't get the same impact the end of episode 5 had without the build up.
The sad part is Ellie would have totally understood dude what the fuck my brain they know I only have one of those right
I just don't see how immediately jumping to "let's cut out the brain of and kill the first and so far only immune person we've ever seen" is possibly the best move for researching a cure
I mean, seemed fair to me, considering the fungus takes root in the brain. How else would they research it? And while the scene was immediate, the entire point of the show was to get her to the lab - so they knew for months she was coming so I am sure they were working on a plan on how to research it once she got there and what course of action needed to be taken.
