I will be out of town next week, which of course next Sunday is the biggest tv night of the year for me - with both the oscars and the last of us season finale on the same night
I don't know if I just happened to look away or something at the moment, but how did Ellie figure out that David was doing the ole Donner Party thing? Did he tell her? Or she just figured it out and he admitted it? Like what made her kick the bowl and say what she said?
I skipped my football team coming to town which only happens every 8 years as it conincided with the breaking bad SERIES finale, so i get it. Higher stakes TV, but also a more exclusive skip. I think i have more self control now to stay offline, and my friends arent ones to text me 'holy shit i cant believe xx happened' texts, so in hindsight i regret it lol. Id say concert.
This was the episode I was most worried about being too condensed, and while I think it could’ve used a little more time to build David up, they pulled it off well. That ending is just so brutal. Pacing wise, my only real disappointment so far is how they cut so much from the University a couple episodes back. That alone should have been a full episode, not a tacked on 10 minute scene at the end of an eoisode. still worried how they’re gona fit all that’s left into next episode, especially since it’s the shortest run time of the whole season.
They’ve definitely made a point to tone down the violence and action, and while I think that’s necessary especially for Part 2 (the ending of which is so aggressively violent and bleak that it’s almost comical)…if I don’t see Joel smash a brick or two on some heads in the finale than this series is dogshit
Next week’s episode will open with Joel and Ellie on another adventure. We see them kill another couple clickers. Ellie will say “guess that’s the last of them!” With that out of the way we are free for the rest of the 45 min not to worry about any of that zombie stuff
so are we just done with this random group of people who dont know their eating humans? Do they return? I dont really mind spoilers.
Unless the show does something different yes. The main takeaway is how Ellie going full on rage mode and chopping a guy to bits will affect her going forward
As someone with no knowledge of the game, I thought it would have been cool to see like maybe the other guy kind of go after David thinking he was infected and/or some of the group finding out they were eating humans and casting David out so that he’d become more unhinged before the final fight
For sure, and Neil and Craig will want to campaign hard, especially as pushback against the nasty response from a vocal minority that werent happy with her casting. Objectively, she's dissapeared into the role. To hear Bella outside the show is amazing, as she seems nothing like Ellie meaning total transformation (voice and demeanor). Not a perfect Ellie imo, but fantastic acting regardless of any quibbles i have.
