While I don’t love it, there’s no reason to not trust the decision. Especially since no one has seen it yet.
Yeah I'm not liking it, and I'm really not a fan of when stuff is changed from the source material (book or game) to TV or movies, but I really don't think they'd do something Neil was against. In Neil We Trust
Well from the article I posted above and the fact Neil is credited, it seems like he's being consulted and his brain is being picked for his input. I know some shows they don't pay any mind to "the video game people" but this seems different.
Just reading this New Yorker piece should tell you he was heavily involved in the process. A movie adaption also ended up never happening because he clashed with studio heads over the direction of it. Can a Video Game Be Prestige TV?
Oh was that never posted here? I didn't even check, but yeah I read that and it's super interesting and has lots of good info. In Neil We Trust
HBO removed the recent BTS video due to spoilers for the first episode. The premiere is an hour and a half because the director of episode 1 left halfway through filming, so they chopped his episode up and combined it with the second. That's also the reason there are only 9 episodes, rather than the original 10. Also people have found early concept art and lines from the first game of the "tendrils" that seem to be replacing spores. So it's not much of a cop out. Must just be more cinematic than spores, and the mechanics of them must not have worked with how they wanted to do the game.
I really need to not read the comments section on social media posts in relation to this show. I can't fucking wait for it, and whiney "purists" complaining about the casting choices, adaption changes and other things is bumming me out.
I agree. I trust that with the team and network involved, we'll get a good product, but I'd rather decide after I've viewed it if that's the case than be negative about every little bit of news that trickles out. Some people just loathe part 2 and are intent on nitpicking every bit of the show. They can have that I guess.
Yeah it's like all they played was the first hour and decided to trash it. Hint: the game goes BEYOND that moment, and it's a fucking masterpiece of a game and story. When they actually do Part 2, god those conversations are gonna be something.
My wife calls it "The Last Jedi" syndrome. A small, but incredibly loud and arrogant group of dudes who take it personally when a creative artform isn't to their liking. I know they're trolls being annoying for the sake of it for the most part, but still doesn't change that it pisses me off. And yes, Part 2 was a masterpiece. It's better than 1, and 1's a gem.
It is pretty miserable especially the ending, no hope really given at all, Ellie lost pretty much everything, including a few fingers, and gained next to nothing but i enjoyed every minute of it. I liked the dual perspective given, and it had some great cut scenes as far as dialogue and facial animations/voice acting goes. Ive played through it 3 times, and have found it compelling and emotional each time. I dont see how it will make it to TV though. Itll be impossible to market online without trolls filling the comments with spoilers. I feel bad for those that didnt play the game. Theres going to be a douch in most friend circles whos going to yell part 2 sux! Joel dies! the minute it comes up.
Are they not doing spores because they don't want the gas masks? Is it hard to film or capture audio with them on? Seems like an odd decision to me. Now we're going to get plants trying to touch people?
