It would be amazing to have a sitcom of that couple just hanging out and bickering, eating rabbits and then on like episode 17 a clicker shows up
This weeks episode was very well done except for a few things: 1. I highly recommend NOT listening to the podcast, or reading any articles about part II easter eggs, as even though I know the story and am filling in the blanks, a lot of stuff that is revealed as being for fans of part II, definitely gives clues to the story direction that might be spoilerish to some (there's one big thing said in the podcast about foreshadowing that I can't believe they'd say). the whole Joel wanting to be a rancher being foreshadowing... i mean come on, that's ruining a big section of part II and even if you haven't played the game, there's no way you could take that comment as meaning anything other than 'huh, I guess Joel or Ellie do settle down on a farm one day'. 1A: (SPOILER) i disliked overall Jackson being so far along in the show. I think it was an extremely neat reveal between 1 and 2 about how far along the town had come during the off screen time 2. The university part was definitely rushed and I think the whole last 15 minutes of the episode was pretty poorly paced. In the game, you explore deeper and deeper into the lab fighting infected, before learning of the fireflies fate. Now, it makes sense to change it... If the fireflies had a lab base there, they'd clear out infected first so they really shouldn't have been in the game to begin with (or at least not to the scale that they were), but in the show, in 15 minutes, you journey 5 days without much trouble before conveniently finding a packing note and then bam! Joel lying in the snow, bleeding out, eyes closed. Also WHY OH WHY DID JOEL REMOVE WHAT HE HAD BEEN STABBED WITH? 3. Do NOT google anything about Joel and just let the show answer any questions you may have about what's coming next. You actually shouldn't ask any question about the show on google as it's inevitable it'll contain more information than what you were looking for, and thus spoilers. 4. Anyone who is mad about Joel not being masculine enough, and too soft and too vulnerable blah blah blah is lame. Conversely anyone still complaining about Bella. The portrayal of both characters is fantastic, and they stand alone alongside the game extremely well. I really can't believe the adaption is THIS good (even though I have some episode to episode complaints). 5. A lot of discussion on the DLC. From the trailer, it looks massively expanded and potentially changed. I think we'll get the following that's different: A cold open with Anna giving birth to Ellie (Ashley Johnson) though I don't know why she'll be of interest to Marlene so early on and why Marline promises to protect Ellie and how that means her enrollment in Fedra school. The argument between Ellie and Riley and Riley being a firefly seems like it'll be a lot bigger and more emotional in this episode than in the game, though I could be misremembering a little bit. I also am not sure how it'll cut between current time and the past? Will Joel's fate be left to hang a week longer or will it be spliced together like in the DLC?
idk, maybe im built different but when i went through 20 years in a post apocalyptic society losing loved ones and family members and having to kill to survive, i wasn't so weepy about it.
I haven’t seen anyone complaining about Joel’s masculinity or Bella here. I am confident in saying the regular thread posters are fully on board.
Next week speculation I think we'll get a lot of the DLC, not changed. I think they'll explore the two, you def see them at the carousel, hoping we also see arcade, water guns, etc. And I'd imagine they go hard with the same ending. Also think they'll cut between her searching for supplies, and what's happening with Joel, ending with her dragging him behind the horse.
Yes, talking about the show in the context of general internet talk. I think most people are on board, but it's a complaint I've seen sprinkled out there enough that it was worth me saying it was a lame take.
joel teaching ellie how to shoot was such a great scene. in such a short moment, you can very easily tell how closer he's let himself get to her in the literal 3 month gap we had between episodes.
I for sure think we will hit all the iconic moments. The brief shot of the mall looks fantastic and so close to the game, but there's enough in the 30 second preview that I see some expansions/manipulations coming (which is okay if they're done well).
Regarding the change in Joel getting stabbed the dude is like 65, the fall out of the window alone would’ve killed him, let alone getting inpaled. It makes sense to change it
It's later. Have you played the game? If so, it's after because: Ellie is distant after her David encounter and this moment is what helps her open back up again. I imagine it'll be in the beginning of episode 9. I don't see how we'll get there in 8 but I also 100% don't see it being cut.
