So I’m guessing the last 3 episodes are left behind dlc Winter um. Settlement people Hospital Seems like a lot for 3 episodes but they’ve done a great job so far
small correction but I just got done playing through the remake of Part 1 and from what I gathered they were at the dam trying to restore power to the town, but the town was still very much established already, we just don’t get to see a glimpse of it until the very end. also Ellie still finds out about Sarah via Maria, just off-screen, and Maria gives her the photo of Joel and Sarah at a soccer game which Ellie gives to him later on when they arrive at SLC.
I am guessing season 2 is going to be a lot of fill in the blank stuff between the timelines of the first and second games that we never saw? I can't imagine they will go straight into the main plot of Part 2 next season.
Another phenomenal episode. I'm not familiar with the game, but with this episode in particular it really felt like the show blew by / through a lot of stuff that I thought we were gonna spend time on. All of a sudden we were finding Tommy and then moving on from Tommy pretty quick. I guess maybe I wasn't expecting that three month jump with the title card...
I kept waiting for Tommy or Maria to do something super shady. With how bleak the show had been, I just assumed something bad was gonna happen after Joel told Tommy the truth about Ellie. When they first showed Ellie in the morning, given how bright it was, I thought Tommy never showed to take her and she was just sitting there, not knowing what to do. But they obviously decided to not do it at exactly dawn to make it easier to shoot lighting wise. I was so convinced shit was gonna go down that it wasn’t until they hit the highway and Joel said it had been 5 days that I knew nothing was going to happen due to Tommy/Maria.
They’ve already said that they have no desire to write anything outside adapting the games, and if there is a season 2 (which we now know there is), they’ll adapt Part II into 2 seasons.
Pedro absolutely crushed it this episode. the monologue was obviously fantastic but I think that scene in the bar was possibly even better from both actors. the way Joel kept subtly pushing Tommy's boundaries and Tommy trying harder and harder to keep his cool, super uncomfortable to watch but a very realistic take on those painful conversations you have with siblings sometimes. think I let out a long slow "jeeeeesus christ" when he said "I guess we'll see won't we"
The way they were able to get some of the shots in the falling snow and fresh snow on the ground was very cool. At least I think that was real snow falling. Love those at the beginning.
Another great ep. Loved everything y’all have mentioned already. Can’t wait for Left Behind next week.
maybe its just bc of how positive and like minded all the reviews and thoughts in this forum are, i have definitely not sought out other dark corners of the internet, but this is one of the first adaptations of something in a while i can remember where the weekly discourse is positive and not just overflowing with “this sucked it was better in the book when _____” or something to that effect. looking forward to watching last nights ep.
Agreed. It’s been a chill thread mostly when it comes to spoilers or adaption changes. I like that we get a recap of what the differences are each week here, too. Solid thread, people. Keep it up.
Maybe this will eventually change but I am really glad this show isn’t focusing on fighting off the infected constantly like other post-apocalyptic shows/movies. Through six episodes, we’ve really only had 2-3 scenes total where that was the case. It’s refreshing to see. I know nothing about the game, but my assumption is you’re dealing more with the infected in the game?
Unfortunately I’ve seen my fair share of (invalid) criticism. But it’s mostly from fake machismo types who believe a man having character development/fears/acknowledged shortcomings makes them weak. I bet those guys wouldn’t have lasted the first day, quite frankly. What they’ve done to expand Joel’s character in this show is nothing short of incredible.
yeah in the game you're sneaking through levels either dealing with infected or human enemies. for example in the KC car ambush scene (set in pittsburgh in the game) you fight off like 6 or 7 guys instead of the 3 in the show.
Great ep. A bit bummed about how condensed the university stuff was but it worked for the show i guess. still think it’s insane that the Left Behind episode is going to be longer than all the David stuff. I’m just not seeing how they’re going to condense that whole segment into less than an hour
Really really loved this episode. They totally nailed the Joel and Ellie argument, got me in the feels 100% He does a LOT of acting in shows and doing voice work for games too. Big fan of his.
