Offerman said in that Kimmel interview that they shot this episode more than a year and a half ago, during the height of The White Lotus season 1 hype.

 

Late to the party (watched this sunday but wasn't feeling good this week), but anyway this week's episode was brilliant and a perfect example of playing to the strengths of the format this story is being told on. I hate the idea of "oh well what was the point". This idea that every story told has to be a reaction to what came before and a set up for what comes next is getting so absurd. The point here was to tell a beautiful story, why does it need to be more than that? To me that's the appeal of telling this story in a different medium: we get to see things from angles the game wasn't able to explore. It's just a glimpse into one of the reasons why people are even bothering to survive in this world to begin with. If there's no love left in the world then cordycep me up baby

I'm happy with the changes from the game. The love story never would've worked in the game because there just wouldn't have been enough of a way to get us to actually know and care about Frank & Bill's relationship enough to have the same emotional impact. And the game's version in the show would've just been relentlessly negative for no real reason.

 

Also it's objectively hilarious if people are mad about this episode being too gay. They're going to be soooo pissed when they realize this is a whole ass LGBT show that they accidentally got invested in lol

 

Still The Rocks best top billed movie.

 

It’s awesome that they tried to get all of the main voice actors in the show in some capacity.

I think I'm gonna give myself two/three more episodes. I'm not sure if I really want to go on this long-winded zombie journey. It's just gonna be too tough since I'm always gonna be comparing it other post-apocalyptic movies/tv shows and I just don't know how Last of Us is gonna differentiate itself enough for me to get on board. I think the overall atmosphere of the show is so far fine but I can't help think of its trying to be like Leftovers (a far superior show).

Episode 1 was a good start. I think I would've liked to see more of the QR-Zone or whatever that we saw in Episode 2....that seemed pretty interesting.

In the end I'm more interested in everything that's happened from the beginning of the pandemic to where we are now, and don't really care about getting this CURE child to home base. Like, I'm already anticipating every beat for the next few weeks and i want to get past them. Can we skip to episode 7?

I'm sorry for being maybe too critical here. I'll keep going. It's allllll about the characters with shows like this and so far the only characer i think i've liked so far is Nora...er, i mean Tess.

To be fair, I do hope as the series goes on that it differentiates itself from previous zombie shows in more ways than what we've seen so far.

 

Can you point me in the direction of a zombie show that had an episode like the last

 

The Last Of Us is really 1000% not about the zombies.

Zombies have been a big part of the show so far. I understand zombie content fatigue but yeah the third episode showed that the creators here are doing something different. Even with the first two you can tell this is high quality television though, I can’t think of anything currently airing that I’d choose over this.
