Yeah, I think this one will be tough to get into as it's not like it's a book where the adaption is compared to what my brain has created, there are voices and visuals already established. I'm excited and in no way trying to go into this negatively, but it's not the typical adaption I'm used to so it'll take me a minute to get things reconciled. Looking forward to hopefully seeing a full trailer soon.
I think I’m going to have the most trouble getting used to live action Ellie just because Ashley Johnson’s voice is burned into my brain for that role. Hopefully the remake/remaster whatever they’re calling it for part 1 of the game comes out before this. I’d like to replay it before I start watching.
I'm actually going to replay the games asap as to create some distance between my playthrough and the series. I'd rather create space for my brain to let go of the game before watching a brand new set of talent take over.
All on the record quotes about the show, say that it is a faithful adaptation of the game but it will explore and expand on certain story beats but to expect the same overall arc. From that tiny teaser alone, there were some scenes that looked almost dead on replications of the game. Personally I think Henry and Sam and Bill will all be fleshed out much further but the Joel/Ellie stuff will be mostly the same.
I'm anticipating a side story with them and some cuts back and forth until they meet. I think we will spend a surprising amount of time with other characters but who knows. I don't think they've established how episodes there are but I'm going to guess 10 so the story needs to be stretched out a little compared to the game.
Every time I’m reminded this is happening I continue to be angry that HBO hasn’t bought the rights for World War Z yet Throw whatever it takes at Brad Pitt to make that happen please, HBO
The day is early, but per the twitter link to the naughtydog blog, it appears the celebration is bit more subdued than a trailer drop. Maybe there's more to come, but maybe not. I don't have my hopes up. EDIT: Spoke a little too soon. HBO has a 5 second teaser up that features the clicker sound so maybe the trailer is back on at some point.
Nice. Shows next to nothing plot wise for those that aren't familiar with the game and no release date but still... first real glimpse and looks great.
Love both actors from GoT, don't think they really look like Ellie and Joel but I'm sure they'll do a fabulous job. Trailer has me hyped for sure.
It looks perfect. I still just do not like the Ellie casting but I expect to be won over pretty immediately lol
Looks great. Curious where the first season will end. It looks like Ellie's in chains at some point in the trailer, so assume we'll get up to David at least
