I definitely see Jesse’s side. Ellie put him and Tommy in a position to have to save her. Not sure what Tommy wrote down, but Jesse said no during the vote, but because of Ellie being reckless he went after to save her nonetheless. He could have been drinking piña colada’s in Mexico City smh
also Joel shouldn't have made the choice for her but Abby's dad also shouldn't have operated on a minor without consent especially if operating on meant you know YATA/ybta as they would say on Reddit
What about She Wolf and the Sam Rockwell wolf from The Bad Guys and the Halsey wolf from Sing 2 and Hereditary star Alex Wolff and Wolf Blitzer
joanna robinson compared this episode to the s2 finale of house of the dragon and i think that’s a fair comparison. a good episode of tv that isn’t a good or satisfying season finale.
Yep. Though I don't think it's AS clear cut. I think this episode could have worked as a season finale if it was reworked, whereas it was clear that HOTD's finale was definitely destined to be an episode 8 or 9 of a 10 episode season. Fuckin Zaslov man.
IIRC, there were stories that broke saying HOTD S2 was originally supposed to be a 10 episode season but corporate told them to cut it down after the season had already been planned/plotted out
Seems very clear to me the budget for these shows was cut to facilitate the rehearsal season 2 so arguably I’d say the viewers won
I haven't read the articles in a while but just remember a lot of fingers being pointed at Zaslov and his cost cutting shit. Either way, not my main point anyway. I think this episode could have worked as a finale if they maybe rewrote or changed the pacing or something. That HOTD finale was clearly supposed to be the lead up to the big battle at the end of the season and they just...stopped there lol
I think this was fine as a season finale if not for the 2 year gap. Kind of feel like they should have had a bigger gap between 1 and 2 to facilitate shooting season 2 and 3 back to back
Mazin isn’t the sole person to blame, but he said this on the podcast which is bizarre. In the game Ellie is very competent. Would not be surprised at this point if he says he never played LOU2.
I blame Mazin and Druckmann for not coming up with a better way to have a satisfying thematic conclusion to this point in the story. It doesn't need to be 1:1 to the game it's an adaptation... figure out how to make viewers feel like Ellie's emotional journey has brought us somewhere more interesting than WELP gotta end it here guys see ya in 2 years
It seems they wanted to make this version of Ellie more "sympathetic" because she's less bloodthirsty, but imo, from the cutscenes I watched up to the end of this finale, they really failed at this
