as some one who hasn’t played the games it still felt like I was just watching cut scenes strung together.
I feel like this is exactly what’s going to happen. Season finale of s3 is going to be the scene we just saw
As someone who hasn’t played the games I didn’t think season 2 fell off at all from season 1. Trajectory still going up for me. Buuuut definitely agree that was a terrible way to end it. Would have been so much better to not hear the gunshot. Just end it with her hands up
Yeah unfortunately this season was not as good and it’s once again another adapted HBO series that is victim to the season constraints. It needed another ep or two PLUS some of the changes were not as good as the changes in s1. HOWEVER I will say I actually really enjoyed this ep more than the last two. I thought I liked last ep but after sitting with it I would’ve liked the Joel flashbacks peppered in instead of all at once. Like Jones said this section of the game that next season will adapt is really exceptional but it stinks we’ll have to wait another two years.
was underwhelmed by that finale after enjoying pretty much everything in this season a lot, just a weirdly paced and off episode. that whole island sequence was genuinely bizarre, I can't believe that got to air as is
Yeah... That was a disappointing ending to a mixed season for me. The whole boat/island shit was pointless, and the ending felt a bit cheap. BUT, based on the games, the next season could be really fucking good if they nail it. I'm still definitely "in", but it's running at more of a 7 compared to season one's 9, for me.
I thought the episode was fine altogether but disliked the cliffhanger of Abby shooting at Ellie. Like obviously Ellie won’t die but likely having to wait two years to pick up from that moment is irritating I don’t necessarily mind Ellie’s encounter with the Seraphites, but I wish it were more obvious why they just left her vs killing her quickly Overall I really enjoyed season 2. Highlights for me were the addition of Isabela Merced to the cast, life in Jackson, Ellie’s emotional growth compared to s1, the exploration of grief, and all of episode 6
Weird changes for sure. Didn’t like where they ended this season either. Reminds of that lazy walking dead cliffhanger with Negan swinging the bat at the screen and then cutting to black. Overall this season was obviously a step down from S1, but it’s also incomplete. HBO should’ve made a longer season. The writing did feel cheap compared to S1. I think they tried too hard to make the show its own while still being too attached to keep things that happened in the game. It felt messy at times juggling the two. Also waiting 2 years for S3 is odd after that cliffhanger. Overall I’d say S2 was like a 6/10. Really great episodes like Episode 6 and Episode 3 stood out the most for me.
Variety has been continuously updating their Emmy predictions as the cutoff gets closer. They're now predicting Kaitlyn Dever to get the Guest Actress in a Drama Emmy and that being the only major Emmy this season gets.
You spoiled what is probably going to be the climax of next season without a tag in the non-game player friendly thread lol
i am sorry for posting that a character approaching another character that has been tracking them for the full length of a season by pointing a gun at them would lead to a confrontation
I think we're collectively just not doing a good job of making this thread spoiler free for ppl who haven't played the game. It's silly bc literally anything can be seen as a spoiler regardless of how vague you think you're being. Things are inevitably gonna come up bc it's an adaptation. But like. Have some goddamn empathy. You don't have to be a smartass all the time. Maybe tone it down to, idk, 70% of the time.
i spoiler tagged it out of empathy. i don't want to ruin the time for any viewers. at the same time, as you said, literally anything can be a spoiler if you don't draw the line somewhere. i don't see how what I posted would be a spoiler for anyone unless it's the first piece of fiction you've ever seen.
Yeah lol what the hell? I don't even know what's going to happen but this seemed obvious and I don't consider it a spoiler
I see what they’re doing now. Assuming HBO lets them. Season 3 is Abby’s journey to the theater and season 4 is everything after.
