I've had that problem in the past with Craig's writing, so its surprising to hear that take in this episode when it wasn't an issue for me. I thought the dialogue was all spot on, believable and engaging and while yeah... it's saying a lot of obvious stuff, it was all powerful and well acted (like the intro to the religious group and the town hall). Probably my favorite episode of the season so far and I think it'll be even better when considering it as the bridge between episodes 2 and 4 (if 4 is as action packed and eventful as the teaser implied). It's always going to be hard for me to be objective when knowing the road ahead, but just trying to judge it from a perspective of good / engaging writing, I thought this was a superb episode.
Kinda think we should leave this thread for show-only peeps. You never know when you might say something you think is vague and someone else will see it as a spoiler
To be clear, I don't think the writing was bad, and I actually really liked the cult scene. Town hall scene felt a little like I was just listening to discourse about a totally random, unrelated game that came out 5 or so years ago at times, but even there I like what they're doing in regards to the arguments for/against the Seattle mission (namely who supports it and why).
I think it’s cruel to take interesting insights into the show, and hide them away in the shadowland of the video game threads.
I think what he means is that it's possible to talk about the show in the context of the games without discussing events that haven't been adapted yet.
No i'm just being selfish and don't care if others are spoiled, I just don't want to go to the video game threads lol
Just lock this thread until the show is done. No analysis is allowed. Each poster can submit a reaction emoji for each episode and a mod will post it each week. Deadline will be 8am Monday morning. Due to the short deadline, we will allow anyone who missed a week to submit 2 emojis the following week. This is obviously the only solution that will work. And Dave is banned from all threads except for the TLOU2 game thread.
These can be answered in one word answers (please, nice and vague lol) and spoiler tagged, but just curious... Is the religious group in the game and are they introduced the same way? I assume yes because both of those scenes felt like classic video game cut scenes just rewritten for TV, but interested if it was handled the same way because the first scene we see them in could have also been a "here's what these people are like so you sympathize with them/hate the wolves more" scene made just for TV.
I don't see a problem with game spoilers if people use spoiler tags tbh. If someone chooses to read those regardless of spoiler tags, that's on them haha
maybe hot take but that was easily my favorite episode of the season. I found it to be deeply moving.
Very vague and non plot specific answer. Yes and no. They are in the game but they are introduced in a way that made me shit myself.. ha.. terrifying in the game because of that whistling. Ellie encounters them by randomly stumbling upon where they are patrolling and ill never forget the shrill whistling through my headphones that made me jump as it was so unexpected.
