Spent 5 years cooking up that line.

Kaitlyn Dever's mom died from cancer last year and the funeral was three days before she started filming. Her first day on set was shooting the cabin scene with Joel.

Not sure why that got deleted, it was from the FilmUpdates account and it was quoting an EW article. Maybe they removed it for spoiler reasons? It didn't actually say what happened and the photo they included didn't show anything either.

Yeah, that's a really shitty thing with fandoms. I knew most of what happened in GOT due to nonstop spoilers everywhere and ended up watching the entire series leading up to the final season, already knowing a lot of the story. Surprisingly, the Red Wedding wasn't spoiled for me. That series sucked by the end, but still wish I hadn't known so much about it before watching.

These days, if it's a really popular show like TLOU or Severance, I make our household watch it ASAP so nothing gets spoiled.

I knew within 48 hours of TLOU Pt 2's release back in 2020 about Joel's death and I was so pissed I just never got around to playing the game. At this point I'm planning on letting this season play out however it does with game spoilers and I'll go back and play it after the finale.

I don’t know how I avoided the Joel spoilers when TLOU2 came out, especially with being online all the time during COVID. All I knew was something happened and fans were pissed. Absolutely gutted me. Then after I played it, I went back in the TLOU2 thread and read people playing it in real time. What a journey.

I made it until this show premiered without knowing because I never got around to playing the 2nd game. Pretty sure someone on this site just outright said it and ruined it for me.

I also blame the hacks/leaks that spoiled the plot before the game even came out. Felt so bad for ND when people were already spoiling this ahead of time. Yeah......there were fan theories leading up to release that this is PROBABLY happening, but no one expected it in this way or even this early.

Because it was COVID and I was losing my mind online like everyone else, I had the big thing spoiled for me before the game even came out because of the big naughty dog hack. Luckily there was much more to that game besides that initial shocker

Definitely thought it was gonna be later considering they've been talking about how many seasons they're gonna be doing. Totally wasn't expecting it this soon.

I was completely unaware of the leak until I literally watched the making of doc about an hour ago haha. But then again, I don’t follow too many game focused accounts on social media/YT, so I thankfully don’t see too much of that stuff.

I don't think I would have seen it, if it weren't for the leaks either. I didn't have a playstation at the time and wasn't really paying much attention to anything outside of Nintendo.

I was not spoiled when playing the game, but I also felt Joel kind of deserved it? (This is reductive of my true feelings, but I remember feeling not completely surprised…I was excited to see where the story went, because it was unexpected for sure). I was more attached to Ellie and to the world, so I wasn’t really upset at all when it happened in the game.

But there MULTIPLE scenes to come that made me extremely upset, and I am fascinated what they do for TV.

Again, knowing nothing about the video game/storyline and going into this completely blind, it’s absolutely wild that last night’s episode was only episode two. Entire hour felt like a season finale.

Yea, the more 'negative' reviews (not that anyone was completely negative on this season) are that the pacing is off - without spoiling further events, and just reiterating what the show has shown us already, last nights episode is the incident that spurs everything that comes next so it absolutely had to happen by episode 3 at worst and I'm glad we got to it in 2 to keep the same structure as the source material. There's so much more to come and I fully am on board with the 2nd game being split into minimum 2 seasons. We will see to what extent, but a lot of reviews (including the fresh ones on RT), said that the pacing is all over the place between big moments and small and it's a little uneven / unorthodox.

I also genuinely believe the video game story leaks, and internet brain rot (IE meltdowns about politics in games) led to a poor reception in some corners, I am ignoring all the whiners and haters saying that people are pissed / angry / checking out etc. I just don't buy that that will be the average persons reaction without a personal bias or some kind of weird agenda.

The blind reaction videos I’ve watched thus far have been all over the place. People are in utter shock, some people are like “There’s no way it happens like this in the game.” Some people have said that they’ve lost all interest in the show. It honestly does feel like 2020 all over again. The biggest problem I see coming now is that people who were upset in the moment could just keep playing the game, while TV viewers are looking at a long road ahead for the full payoff.

I don't consider those doing the blind reaction videos to be serious people. The week to week viewership will speak for itself

I can fully see people dropping the show because of Pedro. Those people are probably a small minority, but they definitely exist. They're also idiots.

Shows have lost viewers for similar things. Look at the walking dead. After Glenn’s death the viewership began to go down at a pretty fast pace.

Ironically these two deaths are similar. Both happened at the beginning of a season. Both were revenge deaths. Both had their head beat in. Both were known about by people who knew the source material years in advance.

TWD was already way past the point of redemption by like 5 seasons by the time of Glenn's death

Pretty much everyone I know quit watching after Glenn’s death. Not that it wasn’t already awful, but that was so graphic and pointless, it was basically the last straw. I regret all the time I put into that show.

That’s true from a narrative perspective, but the season 7 premiere was the 2nd most watched episode in walking dead history. Then by the start of season 8 the average viewership dropped by a few million.

Walking dead fatigue was hitting and I think after seeing Glenn brutally murdered people just didn’t care to keep up with it
