Zero chemistry with anyone else on screen. Everything seems like they are trying so hard to be Ellie.
I def got spoiled on the moment but A) I came into a thread about a show very closely tied to existing art, what was I expecting and B) I'm not a big baby and will still enjoy the show tonight
I guess for me, the reason I don't care about spoilers is because I am much more interested in seeing how something gets implemented/carried out than the actual big reveal. I've always been the weirdo who googles some wikis on a show to get the big moments because I'm impatient, or skim through the last few pages of a book lol
As someone who has never seen gameplay or played the game, Bella is absolutely killing it. Last night was a roller coaster that I did not see coming at all. The final scene was absolutely heartbreaking.
I'm twofold on it. I wasn't a fan of Abby's speech but I understand it was for tv viewers (as was her introduction on the show) to provide context for her actions. I prefer her silent in the game, speaking little and then Joel being like GET IT OVER WITH. I also think the beating with the club was more brutal, as bad as the stabbing was itself. Joel's body was already limp/dead at the point of the stabbing whereas in the game she hits him so hard you see his head bounce off the floor. Buttttt then the extended sequence the show did with Ellie crawling over to his body and holding him, jesus. That got me GOOD. I much preferred that to the game just blacking out as Ellie is knocked out. Edit: forgot to add that in the game, we had NO idea who Abby and Co were, what her movies were, hell the intro to her in the game was playing as her outside in the snow on patrol and people must have been like oooh who's this new character........then shit hit the fan and everyone was like WHAT WHY WHY WHY. It caught everyone by surprise, and is slowly revealed throughout the game who and why she did what she did so for the show to immediately throw it in our face......yeah I wasn't a fan. Should've kept people guessing, but I understand the medium is different so different audiences.
Getting stuck in a corner by a bloater and just hoping you have enough ammo, Tommy is just like me fr
Enjoyed the episode a lot and thought the inciting moment for this season was pretty effective, though I do prefer the game version, but that's probably just familiarity with it. The one part I liked more is Ellie (I'm assuming) getting her ribs broken and then being awake for more of the scene. I am not a fan at all of the 'bonk them on the head hard enough and they'll pass out for the convenient amount of time and wake up with no ill effects besides lost time'. I am confused about Abby a little and why she doesn't seem to know about or care about Ellie. If the Nurses told her everything like how Joel killed her dad, then surely they'd say he took Ellie and she would have some sort of interest in that? I'm not quite sure why that connection or interest is lacking. Surely she knew why Joel killed her dad? But then again, maybe it'll be shown she wasn't privy to the operational details for the fireflies As expected, the Bella haters continue to be mean spirited, misogynistic little trolls and nit pick everything including now going after Tatianna Gabrielle who is the actress and model for the next naught dog game.
I think Abby is blind with rage and might not even care? She had to have known, and then ELLIE TELLS HER herself in the theater but that doesn't change anything. Now, maybe she didn't know exactly it was Ellie at first but she should have put the pieces together that Ellie was the one traveling with Joel at the time but then when Ellie tells her "there's no cure because of me" and "he did what he did to save me"........she should have known.
I follow this tiktoker for horror recs, they haven't played the game and filmed their reaction to the episode
when the opinion is that bella can’t act for this role, when she clearly can, then i think it’s fair to question it. Rfk jr’s opinion is that vaccines cause autism. It’s a terrible opinion and flat out wrong.
Absolutely no one gives a fuck about spoiling what happens in shows and movies anymore. Fucking ridiculous for people that couldn't watch when it premiered. I had the 2nd game spoiled for me before I even played it, so I'm not personally bothered by it. But it's fucked up. Deadline is just posting everything for instance. What a shit culture that's been created.
Had a friend who doesn’t play game had that moment spoiled by a random notification as soon as she woke up. Sad for her, but also pissed because I didn’t get to have that immediate conversation with her about how the scene made her feel, did she it coming etc
Would love to see how expensive this show is compared to other shows. This was a cinema quality episode, I can't imagine that attack on Jackson was cheap
Yeah, the erosion of journalism making every outlet completely desperate for clicks and engagement has basically ruined any chance of something not being spoiled immediately. I hate it.
i dont know what last night's episode specifically was but i did read that this season of the show has a budget higher than 'most' seasons of game of thrones had.
I was talking with a friend about this episode and the game in general while at the gym this morning. He likes that Joel died the way he did, I didn’t like the way it was handled in the game or show, but I do like that it shows actions have consequences. We both agreed on some of the polarization to Abby’s character though, mostly on her perspective and her actions regarding Joel’s death, and pinpointed what makes the character so frustrating. While yes there is some sympathy for the character. There is a limit to that sympathy, and it’s when she is so blinded by revenge that she is kind of a walking contradiction of a character that makes me a bit annoyed with her. Something that the viewer can see, but the character can’t see it herself. I’ll spoiler some stuff that might be discussed in the show pertaining Abby and past events Back to the whole Joel/Ellie/Marlene stuff in LOU1. Abby overhears Marlene and Jerry talking and is aware that that they knocked at Joel and took Ellie, were willing to kill her for 1 in a million chance if a cure, and didn’t tell Ellie that (you could argue Ellie would have said yes regardless). So Abby should know that they kept it a secret from Joel on purpose and the fireflies were potentially about to kill a girl which may have not lead to a cure. Joel was lied to and led to him massacring the fireflies to save Ellie. Okay, so jump back to Abby wanting revenge. She told Joel in this episode “it doesn’t matter if you have a code like me, or a lawless POS like you”, but she doesn’t realize she’s describing herself right to Joel’s face. She literally spent 5 years, willing to put herself (and her friends) in dangerous situations for a small chance of killing Joel. Then she murders Joel for revenge, when from what I stated above, she should know Joel killed her dad to save Ellie, while her dad was willing to kill a kid. Abby is now the one taking the law into her own hands and being a lawless POS while confronting Joel. I do like the story of all actions have consequences and Joel killing those people would catch up to him, but Abby acting the way she does is so annoying because it’s hypocritical every way I look at it. It’s like the walking dead with Negan killing Rick’s men because Rick killed his men, except Negan knew he was still a villainous POS, whereas Abby doesn’t seem to be self aware and it reflects in how she acts and speaks which drives me crazy. Kaitlyn is doing a great job with the role though so kudos to her.
