Just watched Ep 2. I’ll keep the spoilers hidden since it just released, but basically how I feel about this event in the game remains the same with the show.

Abby is a punk loser. Just as annoying of a character in the show as the game.

Joel telling her to shut up and just do it was the highlight for me.

I thought the death wasn’t that bad in terms of gore and Abby stabbing him with the broken club wasn’t as effective as the final “clonk” of when she swing it into his head in the game

Still a good episode, but this moment will forever remain a big “what on earth were the writers smoking” for both the game and show for me.

 

Using that song at the end on top of everything else is terrorism

 

God that was heavy. Sat there with my jaw open just like when i played the game. What an episode. Man.

 

Still dont love abby revealing her motivation so soon, but i see why they have to do it for tv.

 

Can’t wait for two more seasons of “revenge is bad actually”

 

The ending song is the ultimate nod for the gamers, gotta respect it!

Craig Mazin should be charged with 34 felonies for only making this a 7 episode season. We still have five left and I am already getting angry for the wait for season 3.

executed perfectly. been waiting five years for this and they nailed it.

 

Kaitlyn Dever fucking killed it. It doesn’t matter that she doesn’t have the physique, her acting there was spot on.

Bella Ramsey at the end was so good as well.

The horde in Jackson was new but I’m glad they did it because Mark Mylod is the goat at those sequences.

I knew what would happen and i still choked up.

Two castings in a row where I was like “meh” and was proven the fuck wrong lol

 

Slightly changed the way abby finishes things. Not quite as gruesome as in the game, but still bad obviously. There was less anger which almost makes it more sickening in a way.

 

Stabbing Joel in the neck with a broken golf club wasn’t as gruesome??? Lol

 

That was a fucking lot for episode 2 of the season. My god.

 

So many thoughts to get out regarding this episode, but I think they made a good change flipping Tommy with Dina. Watching it in the moment I was curious as to why they went that route, but as the episode played out it really allowed Tommy to have a moment, and I think it will help provide more context and motivation for what’s to come for Dina.

 

i just mean she sat there quietly and did a quick jab. In the game she takes a full force swing to his head with the head of the club.

 

I think putting Dina there helps. I’ve seen criticism that she doesn’t have much motivation for the rest of the story other than Ellie, so establishing her relationship with Joel and her being there makes a difference for sure.

 

In the game, you see the club cave in the body part. So, yea, stabbing is not as gruesome.
