The contingent expecting 1:1 remakes of stuff in an adaptation will never not make me laugh. Just play the game or watch/read the source material.

 

For sure. I think it's reasonable for a fan to be disappointed in a show not adapting certain things in a way they would like, but some people are so cruel and/or entitled about it

 

Yeah I don’t understand complaining about the different order. Druckmann and Hailey Gross are both involved in this along with Mazin, they are choosing how to retell the story they created in a different medium. It’s not just some random writers and directors doing it.

 

Oh for sure! If some of my favourite elements from Part II aren't included I'll be bummed for sure, but I'm not going to piss and moan about artistic licensing.

 

Every tiktok comment section is full ppl complaining about Bella's performance or Kaitlyn's looks, how neither of them fit the part. So basically misogyny

 

It’s just stuff that’s need to be drowned out. The show increased from the series premiered it’s a small subset of people who probably didn’t like the game to begin with.

 

I have never played the game but someone just wanting a shot for shot remake of the game should maybe just go play the game

On another note, I stumbled upon a Reddit thread of ppl who wanted Ellie to kill Abby like um hello did we even play the same game, if it went that way it would've been completely antithetical to the themes it was trying to convey. Media literacy is dead.

 

I’ll stream myself playing the game for those people. My mic doesn’t work for some reason, so I won’t even be talking over anything or adding commentary. Just give me like $500 and I’ll do it in one stream.

 

To be clear, in regards to the show, I'm here for the ride. And I'm going to have a good time.

 

Yeah I've seen some gross takes on this, especially about Joel's "heroism" and the video game version of Ellie. People can be absolutely fucked.

 

I mean tbh I don't think that Bella is that great an actor and it's very apparent when they are on screen with actors like Pedro and Isabela, but I would never attack them for their looks

 

I don't get the down on Bella's acting stuff tbh, I think she's doing pretty good. I think her face/eyes aren't super expressive all the time (especially compared to Pedro) so maybe that throws people off, but her delivery and inflection in her voice and way she's carrying herself movement wise and etc all seem pretty good to me.

 

I think they're good enough where it isn't affecting my enjoyment of the show in any way, I just think they could have cast someone better for the role. I still love this show

 

it only became tough for me when they cast Dever because she was always my dream casting for Ellie. Bella didn't bother me much in s1 outside of a few moments here and there that either seemed over or under-acted. but I do kind of wish now they wouldn't have waited so long to make this so Dever would have worked out lol.

 

Just hard to stand out when you're across from Pedro. Dude's face and eyes tell stories by themselves

Thought Bella was good the first season. Thought they were okay this first episode. Just my opinion.

 

first episode of s2 was a snoozefest. still here for the ride but *yawn*

 

Dever is understandably the one people usually point to, but Cailee Spaeny screams Ellie to me. I wonder if they ever reached out to her.

 

I enjoy Bella in the role, but I agree with most of what has been mentioned. Cailee Spaeny is definitely one that makes me feel like “what could have been.”

Totally agree about Spaeny. I think I heard she did audition for it but could be wrong
