Looks great but gonna be a long wait still. My guess will be at least a year but im glad to get whatever official teasers during the wait period. Looks like i was wrong about Catherine O'Haras role so i still dont know exactly who she's meant to be in a multiple episode arc (unless its a highly misleading cut trailer.- which for game players we know all about that ha).
Theres 50 hours of gameplay between both games (thats very story rich) plus countless side stories you only read about. The plans laid out for the show do not sound like a stretch or drag out at all.
According to howlongtobeat.com they both take, on average, 39 hours to beat. They're already done with the first game in 1 season though, which takes about 15 hours to complete the main story. TLOU2 takes, on average, 24 hours, so turning that game into potentially 3 seasons will be stretching it pretty thin. That's just the hand they're dealt though. They obviously want to take their time so they can make as much content as possible, and with the 3rd game being years away they only have the 2nd game to go by. I'm also fine with getting as much Pasal Joel as possible
that would be awesome. Interesting numbers from that site compared to my playthrough's but these are also my favorites and I've taken my time. 1st playthrough was around 36 and the 2 since were right around 30. The first game is close, I think I'm around 17. A 3rd season on part II, without bringing in significant plot developments meant for a 3rd game, would probably stretch it though. You and I agree that 3 full seasons on part II without major changes would be a lot. 2-2.5 though seems okay... I'll take what I can considering Neil and Naughty dog are involved, but I'd be extremely disappointed to advance the game story via the TV show.
I think one of the producers also mentioned the episode amount will vary pers season as well. Season 2 will be 7 episodes in total which is 2 less episodes than Season 1, so perhaps this will allow them to still have more seasons without stretching the story out.
Using How Long to Beat as a credible useful source is just lol. Every game is YMMV, I swear people think it's the gospel. Especially if you haven't played the game yourself. Peoples playthroughs in any game will vary....some people rush, some people fully explore.
To be fair howlongtobeat has times for main story, main story + side, and main story + completionist. So for people that want to explore and complete more objectives you can look at the average completion time for that. When it comes to adapting a video game to the screen I don't think they'll include the wondering about that will inflat the completion time for the game itself lol unless they have an episode of Ellie in the wilderness by herself examining bark on trees and walking in circles.
There's a game that the website says it takes 100 hours to beat. Actually, 60 1/2 for main story and 100 for main+side stuff. I'm at 133 hours and not even done with the story, barely done any side stuff. And I'm not walking around in circles examining trees lol.
Sounds like a skill issue lol i'm joking. I've spent more hours on BOTW than howlongtobeat says the average is
Using HLTB is fine. For TLOU2, over 5k people were polled, and the average is 29h. That is a very reasonable time to expect to play that game.
Funnily enough the game I'm referring to is another open world. XBC3. I think I just got to the last part of the game tho lol.
