I have not played Uncharted so I did not know Dever voiced Nathan Drake’s daughter in the last game lol. That makes perfect sense that she was probably already considered for the role by Druckmann on top of her being in the first table read for the show years ago.

I just don’t know if I see her as Abby.

Although to be fair I wasn’t super high on Bella upon her casting as Ellie and she showed me what’s what real fucking fast, so.

Plus she is fucking incredible so I’m sure it will be great and I’ll be eating my words in 2 years or whenever we finally get this lol

 

She’s a great actor. Know nothing about the games so I love it.

I wasn’t expecting whatever actor playing Abby to be as absolutely yoked as she in the game, but I do think she needs to be physically imposing and that’s not something I see Dever as

 

They can always just let Dever cook in her natural body and say they wanted to more closely draw a visual parallel between how similar Ellie and Abby are and how it’s circumstance/perspective that places them on opposite sides of the story, etc, and say that being jacked doesn’t factor into that story. BUT, if she did get bulked up Christian Bale in Batman Begins style, that’d be pretty sick.

I love that Kumail got jacked and then was clothed that entire movie, I respect his dedication to being just one of the guys in the MCU, going that extra mile just because he can

Also shoutout JK Simmons bulking up for Justice League just to get dressed in a trench coat

 

To be fair, I think he’s just naturally that way. He was cut as hell in “Whiplash.”

 

Yeah he's always been in good shape, but I remember reading that they had him put on a ton of muscle mass to play Gordon. Like, he didn't look like this in Whiplash

Brie Larson did the perfect amount of strength training

 

If thats true casting they are obviously abandoning Abbys in game persona and going to lean into the similarities between Ellie and Abby starting with their physicality and making them closer. Personally, not a gamble im a fan of on paper.
