  1. I'm not so sure he's had the juice since Funny People, but the concept could be good

There’s stuff I like in this is 40, trainwreck and the king of Staten Island. Never watched the bubble cause I heard it’s shit.

I’m not even sure it’s hyperbole when I say the bubble might be one of the worst I’ve ever seen

It’s definitely one of the worst comedies ever made.

there’s no one in that movie that didn’t deserve better, which says a lot given how many cameos i remember there being. this won’t be as bad, surely

I really liked the king of Staten Island and thought it was a return to form for Apatow. But then he decided to make The Bubble which is easily the worst project he’s ever been involved with.

I’m hoping to write that one as a Covid-brained one off and maybe working with a real star that has comedic chops and good screenwriting sensibilities (see Hit Man) can lead to something pretty good

Yeah, King of Staten Island was solid, minus the unnecessary subplot with Maude Apatow. Trainwreck’s part with Hader, Cena and LeBron were good, but most of Amy Schumer’s stuff and the Ezra Miller subplot were not great.

I still hold out hope Apatow has some gas left in the tank. Lord knows studio comedies need something.

  8. There's stuff I liked about all of these as well, it's just that the further away I get from them, the less there seems to be.

Apatow's work was so formative to me growing up that I'll always give anything he does a chance
