This is only playing at one theater near me and it's always at some time that I can't make. I really hope it keeps playing for another couple of weeks so I'll get a chance to catch it.

I’m pretty sure I loved this and it’s certainly my favorite Lanthimos film that I’ve seen. I’ve enjoyed his stuff but I think this is the first I’ve loved through and through. Possibly the second best movie I’ve seen this year next to A Ghost Story, though, I admittedly haven’t seen a whole lot.

this is the first of his that I've seen, I meant to see The Lobster but it never played by me and I haven't seen it yet, I will someday
I can't believe Alicia Silverstone played the mom of a 16 year old boy
but yeah this was very fun/funny considering the subject matter and this is Nicole Kidman's year we're just living in it

Anybody else get Kubrickian vibes from this? The abrasive score in conjunction with some of the foreboding cinematography reminded of of The Shining at parts.

Yeah, Kubrick vibes abound in this thing. He really tried to mirror Kubrick’s insane precision. I actually think that plays a role in why I don’t totally love this though. I feel like his previous films had more of his own distinct style.

    holy fuck

I laughed a lot and I am deeply unnerved. Despite this being called the Lathimos "horror" movie it was way creepier than I was expecting

    Absolutely loved it

Finally watched this bad boy tonight. I was uncomfortable and fidgety the whole time. Everything about it filled me with anxiety. Dark and disturbing. I don't know what to think about it.

    Shit's fucked.

Oh yeah, the score for this was so obtrusive and effective. Very good.

  22. Double-featured The Lobster and this yesterday. Incredibly unnerving.

This is on netflix now and so I went on Wikipedia for 2 seconds and saw "A24" and "psychological thriller" and was like great I'm in, of course not knowing that the first 45 minutes of the movie would be the most torturous of my life

It’s a slow burn but there’s enough great acting and cinematography to make it interesting.
