I like Flamingo, but it sounds like a Killers album without the Killers. The Desired Effect has a more distinct solo album voice and I think all of the Killers albums are more exciting and interesting thanks to the presence of the band. I probably still like Flamingo more than Day & Age, because it just has a lot of really solid songs, but I definitely disagree that it's his best work--or even close, for that matter.
The solo stuff doesn't do much for me, but "Crossfire" and "Only The Young" are two of his best songs.
I've never been able to enjoy Flamingo at all for the same reason - it just sounds like a Killers record without The Killers on it. I really feel like those 4 guys just make some damn good music when they're together. Flamingo is just missing that spark.
I really love a lot of those songs: "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas," "Jilted Lovers," "Hard Enough," "On the Floor," "Crossfire," and "Magdalena" are all top tier. But I always feel like it's missing something. Versus The Desired Effect which sounds like it's exactly what it's supposed to be.
Mark Stoermer Confirms The Killers are Working on their 11th Christmas Single, Packaged Christmas Album
well they also posted a picture of the K with the caption "what are you getting for christmas this year?" so I'm assuming that's what it is :- /
I'm glad for a new Christmas single. It will be nice to have all of them collected on an album too if they still carry through with that. I am definitely ready for a new studio LP, though.
What do I win? The Killers Cover ‘I’ll Be Home for Christmas’, ‘Don’t Waste Your Wishes’ Title of Christmas Compilation
