Couldn't find a thread for these guys. They're currently working on their fifth album, but news is limited. So I thought I would kick it off with today's announcement: Hot Fuss is being reissued on vinyl this June! The Killers’ debut album Hot Fuss, will be reissued on vinyl LP in June. The 2004 album has sold more than seven million copies since its release and is still very much the yardstick by which new Killers albums are measured, thanks to a stream of superb singles including Mr Brightside, Somebody Told Me and All These Things That I’ve Done. It reached number one in the UK and spent and incredible 247 weeks on the British album charts. The long-player is very rare on LP and was only ever issued as a limited blue vinyl and a similarly limited seven-inch (black) vinyl box set. Both command very high prices on the used market. There has also been a spate of coloured vinyl bootlegs over the years. For this reason, this vinyl reissue will be warmly welcomed by fans who have been frustrated at the difficulty of acquiring Hot Fuss on vinyl at a reasonable price. The track listing for this new vinyl appears to be the original UK one, with Glamorous Indie Rock And Roll in place of Change Your Mind. Hot Fuss is reissued on vinyl on 10 June 2016. Hot Fuss is good, Sam's Town is inconsistent, Day & Age is awful, and Battle Born is their best by far. So, I'm cautiously optimistic for their 5th album. Brandon's solo album last year is my favorite thing he's ever done though.
I love bits and pieces of everything they've done, but nothing they do will probably ever reach the perfection of Hot Fuss again for me.
I have the 7' Box Set of Hot Fuss, so I'll stick with that. But happy other people can finally own this album at decent price. Excited to hear what comes of their studio time w/ Tedder.
Even including Brandon's solo material, this is one of the few bands where I can put their entire discography on shuffle and never feel the need to skip a song (excepting maybe just a few). Really excited for their new album.
I got Hot Fuss on green vinyl in a small shop in Rouen, France. Great record. To me: Hot Fuss = Sam's Town (very different though) > Battle Born > Day & Age (still love A Dustland Fairytale, Human, ...). What a band.
So pumped Hot Fuss is getting repressed! Would love the same for Day and Age. Definitely in the minority, but I feel like these guys get better with every record.
Just checked the link. Kinda bummed it's a UK pressing. The biggest reason I haven't pulled the trigger on a used copy isn't so much the $40 asking price, but the fact that it doesn't have Change Your Mind.
I really want this next album to be Battle Born 2.0!! Runaways, The Way It Was, Here With Me, and Miss Atomic Bomb are incredible. Does anyone else think Brandon's vocals are a mixture between Roy Orbison & Springsteen? Seems really weird when I type it out.
Part of me feels like Brandon's disliking was formed by other people's disliking though. I don't know if they'll be able to top Battle Born honestly.
I think it was, to a certain extent, which really sucks. It's my favorite record of theirs too, but I never thought they'd top Sam's Town (especially not after they made Day & Age) and here we are. Then again, the last time they made a record that was a reaction to people not liking something, it was definitely their worst. Hope that doesn't happen again. The quality of The Desired Effect gives me hope that Brandon has thicker skin now than he did then.
I've been tempted a time or two on eBay. If it would be in the general vicinity of 60 bucks, I'd pull the trigger. Haven't seen that though.
I remember seeing a Day & Age LP at FYE back in like, 2010, way before I started collecting vinyl. If I'd only known...
I owned Day & Age on vinyl and gave it to a friend for free in like... 2011 because I hated it. Pretty sure it wasn't worth much of anything back then. Got really bummed when I found out how much it started going for more recently haha.
I have the original blue with silver foil. That thing is so pretty. One of my favorite records I own.
