is there anybody who would rock up to a Killers show and be mad they didn't play Glamorous Indie Rock and Roll lol
Correct. I kind of think they’d do both that and “Change Your Mind, though. Just one after the other. Adds some punch to the second half.
that's... wild. like I've never seen em live but Dustland is a top 10 track and GIR&R is more like the bottom lol
I can't be the only one who thinks Shot At The Night and Just Another Girl are two of the best Killers songs ever. I feel like those two tracks and the singles from Battleborn should have been way bigger than what they were.
I remember going to one of the Sam’s Town 10th anniversary shows in Las Vegas, and being really excited by the prospect that they would play the b-sides to that album, or maybe some deep cuts, after running through the main track list. If ever there was a crowd to play something a little different for, that was it (very small room that was comprised pretty much entirely of super fans). But they just brought out the hits parade for the encore, haha. Obviously their setlist is a well-oiled machine at this point, and they know how to play to the masses at festivals and the like, but I always love when they bring out something unexpected. They’ve gotten better at doing that as time has gone on, but something like a Hot Fuss 20th anniversary show would be a great opportunity to wheel some of the forgotten stuff out.
It's planned. Brandon basically confirmed it in a recent interview. In the same one, he made it seem like a new album wouldn't be out for a couple years considering he has a solo album scheduled before as well. If they're focusing on celebrating Hot Fuss first, his solo album is probably going to be an end of the year or early 2025 release. The Killers' upcoming album comes third in those plans I guess.
I hope I’m wrong, but they haven’t proven to be the type of band that has the courage to play deep cuts or go all in on a new release for a tour set list. They seem to like being as big as possible at all times no matter how many times they have to run through the same 15 songs live. My guess is they simply work in 3-4 more songs off Hot Fuss into their normal set-list, call it an anniversary tour, and move on.
I am very mad they are not pandering to my Vegas timeline for WWWY. Wondering why this wouldn't be a full summer tour at outdoor venues.
If it's all four of them, I'm betting the eight shows and the timing of them is the best they can do, in terms of getting them all together. It's very rare these days to see all four together in any capacity.
Had pit tickets for one of these shows in my cart but no way in hell am I spending $385 per ticket. Settled on mezzanine.
Just Another Girl is pretty good (and has an all-timer video imo), but the lyrics and core tune feel a bit lacking in personality, kind of Taylor Swift vibes. And Shot At The Night is just vague "bigness" to my ears - complete with the In The Air Tonight drum fill - I've never found a way into that song emotionally, so keen to understand what makes it tick for its fans. I feel that Carry Me Home should've made the Battle Born main tracklist, it's really cool and has a nice message and catchy guitar riff.
Anyone else think This Is Your Life is the best song on Day & Age? It's really wistful and has crept up on me over the years, compared to the more obvious hits like Spaceman/Human, and the emotive Sam's-Town-distillation that is A Dustland Fairytale.
I’ve always held that track up there with the rest you mention. Along with The World We Live In. But I’m a big D&A fan so I’m biased .
I did not like Day & Age much when that album came out. Felt like a step backward to me after how good Sam's Town was, like they got timid from the reception to that album and were trying to recapture some of the pop aspects of Hot Fuss without anywhere near as much success. I loved four songs on it to start, though, and "This Is Your Life" was definitely one of them.
I’ve always loved this song right out of the gate. “No one gives a damn about her hair” is one of my favorite lines ever.
