Cody might be my low key favourite tbh

 

I didn’t like Cody initially but definitely one of my favorites after listening to this album too many times to count

Quiet Town, Cody, Desperate Things and Pressure Machine are my favorites as of now but this album is really fantastic

 

Well if this doesn't make you want a full-album tour I don't know what will. They sound so good & earnest.

“Cody” is the “Uncle Jonny” of this record for me. I don’t always love it when it’s on, but out of context or in the right mood, it hits like a sledgehammer.

“Terrible Thing” is an incredible song. It’s just too devastating to love.

"In The Car Outside" being a consistent top half song in these rankings is so baffling to me. That repeated melody in the verse is grating with the first line, and then I'm just reminded of how bad it is over and over again. It might be my least favorite part of any Killers song. The rest of the song is mostly fine, but I'm waiting for someone to turn that opening into a meme on TikTok or something.

Ha, I love that little repeating melodic figure. To each their own I guess.

 

I would say In the Car Outside is in my top 3 from this album.

it has possibly my favourite imagery on the record, apart from in general whipping ass:

"we got a place with a fence and a little grass
I put this film on the windows and it looks like chapel glass
But when she turns, it's like the shadow of the cross don't cast
No blessing over our lonely life, it's like waiting for a train to pass"

 

Yea I love that song.

Swear to God.

 

I think a lot of the lyrics are good ("It doesn't matter how much you love, it doesn't matter how hard you try" in particular is pretty great) and most of the rest of the song works, it's just that first "I'M IN THE CARRRRRR" line sounds like a joke to me, and there's just so much reiteration of that melody throughout that it kind of kills it from there. I really like the song when I can forget about that part, but the opening means that I can't imagine myself ever seeking that song out on its own.

I'm not trying to shit on anyone else liking it (I like it when people like things!), just expressing that I'm surprised to see it so high on people's lists when there are 10 songs I like more on the record.

I'm sorry but desperate things is a top tier killers song. A cinematic song about a murder where the production and narrative are so cohesive it hurts. God dang perfection.

 

seeing them next Friday night at Firefly, and Phoebe is playing the day before and she doesnt have a show scheduled on the 24th before she goes to Gov ball, so really holding out hope that they play Runaway Horses and she comes out for it.
