one of those random moments I’ll never forget and no idea why - I remember being on lunch break at Wal-Mart and buying Rolling Stone and reading the Sam’s Town review in the lunchroom and being really disappointed by. Then a few weeks later the album came out and I was blown away by how different it was from Hot Fuss and how much I disagreed with the review.
I remember reading the review ahead of time too, and then getting Sam's Town and Continuum in the mail on the same day. The latter clicked a lot faster for me than Sam's Town, which I recall finding a little jarring for how different it sounded than Hot Fuss--specifically how different Brandon sounded. But then I just kind of fell in love with one song at time, first "For Reasons Unknown" and "Read My Mind," then "Why Do I Keep Counting" and "My List," and so on.
Setlist from tonight, their first proper show since December 2019. 1. Dying Breed 2. Spaceman 3. Human 4. Blowback 5. Smile Like You Mean It 6. Run for Cover 7. A Dustland Fairytale 8. Runaways 9. Read My Mind 10. In the Car Outside 11. All These Things That I've Done 12. Caution 13. Mr. Brightside 14. The Man 15. Sleepwalker 16. When You Were Young Shocked they didn't play My Own Soul's Warning and Somebody Told Me.
Weirdly short setlist for a band with a catalog as deep as theirs is now. Opening with “Dying Breed” is clutch though.
Ngl pretty jealous of anyone who's first concert since the pandemic was seeing the Killers open with Dying Breed
“Dying Breed” and “My Own Soul’s Warning” are the two songs I would love to see them kick off a show with. Can’t wait for them to be here in 2022.
I really like the subtle edge that creeps into his voice when he sings “somebody’s been keeping secrets”
So how do I get the DJ to play Quiet Town at this wedding so that I and I alone can scream every word aloud?
Went a whole 2 days without listening to Pressure Machines. Today’s listen with good headphones was very fulfilling.
