This is great. gonna have to spin it a few more times with nothing going on to better track the lyrics / stories as I listened while working but numerous times I stopped as I got lost in the moment of certain songs
I honestly love the little stories in the beginning of the tracks but I also love that they’re omitted from the vinyl
It's insane that the stories were added after the songs were finished since they relate to the themes so well. Thinking specifically about the intro to Runaway Horses
So I had always liked a lot of their early singles and stuff, especially All These Things That I've Done and When You Were Young, but I had completely written this band off after the "Are we humans or are we dancers" song. Seeing all the praise this is getting I decided to check it out and yeah it's really damn great. Gotta go back and check out their other stuff I've missed I guess.
This is great. Wouldn’t be mad if they kept going in this direction. Sam’s Town Hot Fuss Pressure Machine Imploding the Mirage Day & Age Wonderful Wonderful Battle Born
I really wish people on this site would stop discussing pitchfork as though it’s the only review site on the planet. reviews don’t even matter I get way more out of discussions on this forum than I’ve ever gotten out of any review. but when discussion devolves into talking about reviews it’s just headache inducing, it’s just one persons opinion stop treating it like anything more
cannot fathom ranking an album in a discography with as many entries as this one within like, the first 6 months of listening let alone the first 18 hours.
sometimes i just like listening to an album without worrying about if i like it more or less than other albums. actually, all the time i like doing that.
This is the kind of thinking I want to adopt. It's hard to sometimes even think of a brand new album as even part of a band's discography when it gets released. But I'm definitely trying.
this is how I try to do everything now. I used to be a fan of lists and rankings but eventually you get busy and forget stuff or you realize it just doesn’t matter for shit and just enjoy stuff without analyzing or ranking it against other things. same thing with sports and individual players. Like if a player gets traded from a team everyone is either “good he costs too much!” or “what a bad deal that will hurt the team, these idiots!” when it’s like damn, can’t I just like the player regardless of stats, playing time and how much they make?
