The band's back in the studio with Dave Keuning (producer of last year's Imploding The Mirage, one of the two best rock records of 2020) and it sounds like they're getting a bit weird in there! Expecting it August 13, 2021.

They were on the new episode of Time Crisis today. They said they’re mixing the new album “next week.” So not sure if that has already come to pass, but it sounds like it’s gonna be coming up soon.

On IG live today they said that the album is essentially done, and it will be out this year, but the vinyl pressing plants being so backed up are delaying the process a bit.

9 of the new songs popped up on ASCAP, all from that list they posted.

I've liked all of their albums except Day & Age to some degree, and I really liked Imploding the Mirage, so I'm hopeful here. They're a consistent band outside of the one dud.

I honestly wish I could like them all. Someone back in the AP days said something along the lines of "there's no benefit in not liking something, the more music you like the better" and that stuck with me. But ya know, sometimes it just doesn't work out. I do like a few songs on the record though.

Day & Age took me a really long time to come around on. I still have issues with it, but I find myself returning to it a lot. Such an interesting juncture in their career, and they haven’t really done anything like it since.

I might have to revisit it then. Maybe my opinion will have changed. It's been a few years.

Day & Age is probably the album of theirs that I listen to the most. It's just so much fun. I wouldn't try to argue that it's their best, but I enjoy the hell out of it, with the disclaimer that, in my mind, "Tidal Wave", "Forget About What I Said", and "A Crippling Blow" are all a part of the album. "Tidal Wave" in particular is absolutely fantastic and should've made the cut.
