This record is going to be really good. I’m honestly surprised. I think Wonderful Wonderful and Battle Born are both middling records. These 2 songs and that clip of “Dying Breed” are very very promising. This could rival Sams Town as their best record. “Human” is a really good song btw.
Human and most of Day grew on me it's a fun record. Just really hated Human when it came out. And it's not their worst, Wonderful was hard to get through when I listened to recently. I borderline hate the first three songs on that record. Stand by Battle Born being their best but it's close with Sam's
Battle Born is their best. Sam’s and Hot Fuss pretty close behind it. I like Wonderful, Wonderful more than Day & Age, personally.
I hyped up Wonderful, Wonderful a little tooooo much when it came out, haha, but I still think it's really solid. Sam's Town is still tops for me.
Battle Born became my favorite after a road trip through the desert a couple years ago. I didn't like it for the longest time, but something told me to give it another chance and I did. It just clicked with me then. Now I own to variants of it on vinyl haha. Its followed by Sam's Town then Hot Fuss.
Right after Battle Born came out I listened to it on a late-night drive home from a Gaslight Anthem show, and that really made the record click. Dark highways and those songs: great pairing.
The Way It Was is a top Killers song for me. Between Runaways and that song it solidified that I would love Battle Born. Miss Atomic Bomb too. Love the callback to Mr Brightside
I can honestly see the very strong argument for Hot Fuss, Sam's Town or Battle Born to be considered their best album. All three masterpieces right there. I do still argue that Day & Age is absolutely stacked with great songs, although even I have to admit there is just something about it that keeps it from reaching the heights of those other three. I actually like Wonderful, Wonderful a lot, but it is definitely their weakest collection of songs. I think it's proximity to The Desired Effect hurt it A LOT, and The Man was an odd and lackluster lead single from a band that usually puts out fantastic singles. The two songs from this new one plus that snippet of the third song are all very exciting. I am hoping for a fine return to form although I am really bummed that Dave Keuning apparently had nothing to do with this record at all. * Edited to add that I just read an article saying that Brandon & Ronnie also debuted a snippet of a fourth track - My Own Soul's Warning - on the same livestream that featured Dying Breed - can anyone confirm this???
Oh wow. “Blowback” stripped sounds like something that would’ve fit in perfect on The Desired Effect. Love that bridge construction.
Yes, yes it does. I have read somewhere that they said there was not going to be a deluxe version with more songs, but they did post that picture on Instagram a while back that listed songs broken into like A, B & C group, with all of the A songs being the album. So I am hoping some of these turn up at some point down the road.
Only 10 songs on the album and we've heard 4 of them so far - kinda hope they don't release any more until the album release now, unless it's the proper version of Blowback / Dying Breed
In the Instagram Live story, they glanced over the single artwork for Dying Breed, so you can safely bank on that.
Longish drive today. Doing some Killers Discog dive. Pit stop. I’m about halfway through Battle Born. It’s about what I remember. Some songs stand out more than I remember but there is just so much stuff on it that navigates that slightly above mid tempo rocker range that it just bleeds together for me. I’ll see how the B side finishes out but so far “Flesh and Bone”, “Runaways” and “A Matter of Time” are the standouts. Edit: “From Here on Out” is an absolute gem. “Battle Born” is a fine closer. That’s about all I have to say.
