Literally just woke up with the synth hook on "Running Towards a Place" on repeat in my head. Agreed.
“Dying Breed” is just one of the best running songs ever. Carried me to a 4:54 on my second mile today.
I don’t know a lot about running speeds, but it sounds like the Killers made you the fastest man alive.
Ha, I honestly love it. Sometimes the hard runs are super grueling (and sometimes there’s definite muscle soreness and overall exhaustion after), but it also just feels great to get outside and get my heart racing and my lungs working hard. I’ve been running on and off since I was 12, and basically every day for the past five-plus years, and it’s definitely just become a big part of my life and my daily routine. It was definitely one of the only things that kept me sane early in the pandemic.
There’s a high school kid near where I live who ran a 15 flat in the 5K for the first race of the cross country season. He’s a sophomore. That definitely made me want to run harder, haha
I’m playing pickup football tomorrow and already dreading the idea of moving. Thank god im QB and hardly actually need to really run lol
well, he's only like 16, he doesn't have injuries and the existential dread of living weighing him down
running rules though. recommend. i did it a lot as a requirement for sports when I was younger but have been doing a couple miles a day recreationally the last two years. pretty great.
Hooray running. Great way to de-stress. Also a big advocate for recovery runs after a little weed. Makes the music more incredible.
You training for something? Just getting over my second bout of Covid, can’t wait to get my mileage up again.
Kind of? Really any race that I will eventually be allowed to run. Had a few get canned this year and I’m not sure what my next opportunity will be, but I want to beat my 5K PR so I’m working on foot speed a bit. Also, second bout with COVID?! Man, I hope you’re doing okay. Good sign that you’re running again.
Yeah, don’t ask. It’s been a very frustrating six months, especially because we’ve taken more precautions than literally everyone I know. (Run with a mask, haven’t been seeing people, minimal contact and somehow got it both in April and end of August.) I’m good now but the first time was like 2.5+ months of hell.
I'm surprised so many were down on the title track - I dig it I also think the comments about the album being front loaded - I disagree with that take
My God has grown on me quite a bit, but the rest of the back half tracks don’t hold a candle to the first four tracks. They just pummel you with 80’s tinged adrenaline until your begging for the respite delivered in the form of Lightning Fields.
