The unsung hero on Battle Born is "Here with Me." It's not particularly original but "don't want your picture / on my cell phone / I want you here with me" is a chorus for the ages.
Yeah the production on Battle Born doesn’t do a lot of those songs any favors from my perspective. Then again, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t like “Lightning Fields” at all without the atmosphere it has.
Finally got around to this and it's great, they pull off the synth pop sound so fucking well. Opening track is probably my favorite but Caution and My God are great too, among others I'd definitely put this in the top half of their discography I think, though Hot Fuss and Sam's Town will always be 1 and 2 for me
"Makin' out, we got the radio on!" It's so cheesy and yet so good at the same time. Definitely a top song on that album.
I agree on all of those songs. What about "Out of my Mind"? I haven't heard much commentary on that song. It's weirdly one that I find myself going back to often from WW. I LOVE verse 2: "I stormed the gates of Graceland To make you realize Went back to back with Springsteen You turned and rolled your eyes So I told you about McCartney That's a heavy name to drop You said you don't need confirmation But I don't know if I can stop Cause I can't get you out of my mind!"
It’s one my favorites from WW. In addition to the lyrics you cited, I love the locked up synth lead/cymbals hits in the post chorus and that ever-ascending octave synth during the “oh we’re falling” section.
Yeah, that’s really nice. Honestly it’s an OK song, but I find the chorus itself a bit of a non-event
"Dying Breed" has officially ascended into one of my favorite categories of songs, which is the "I have to play this twice in a row when I listen to the album" tier.
It’s in a dead heat with “Caution” for me. Hard to tell which I like more right now, since I’ve had one for almost six months and the other for just a few weeks.
Caution and Warning are neck and neck for me until that solo in Caution gives it the edge. Numbers 4 and 5 overall Killers songs for me.
