I mean, they’ve referenced famous Vegas hotels a few times before and have an entire album named after one. That’s why my mind immediately went there with the pretty obscure phrase of “imploding the mirage”
anyone else think the vocal mix on "when the dreams run dry" are too "in front" of the music? it shocks me a bit every-time i get there on a full album run.
I gotta say I kind of felt like people were over-hyping the singles a little and I wasn't quite as excited as everyone else, but I was very very wrong they were/ar fantastic, as is the whole album. Definitely their best album since Sam's Town for me. And really the first I've truly enjoyed front to back since then. And I could never call this front loaded because My God is on Side B - but again: all great.
Also. This is my personal favorite running album of 2020 so far. This thing gets me going and keeps me going. Lol
On the cover – The Killers: “Music made it possible for me to dream” “You know when someone makes a record and they say that they have 50 songs and they’re going to release another record? Well, we really are!” laughs Flowers. “We’re going to release another one in about 10 months. We’ve already gone back into the studio with Rado and Shawn. I’m excited. It might be better than this one.”
I know this is the oldest trick in the fucking book, but I am hoping that maybe something a little bit positive about the pandemic could be that maybe this actually does happen.....
To me it's like, what are bands/artists, that normally would be touring all these months, doing with their free time? Safe bet would be that they're working on new music, no? And with an overall lower amount of distractions, they have more focus than ever to work on new music right now
alright. we’ll see. this band took, what, 3 years between albums? and five between the one before that? i’ll take whatever bet you throw at me they don’t release a studio album in 2021.
I know what you mean - in the choruses anyway, it doesn’t help that the “I will be where I always was” line doesn’t seem to be following any semblance of a rhythm? I actually like the vocal levels during the verses and the “We’re all gonna die!” part but it’d be nice to have them a little lower on the outro refrain, with more emphasis on that Welcome-to-the-Black-Parade-ish guitar line.
I dipped under 37 mins for a 10k last week, the secret being listening to Dying Breed nine times in a row
Yeah, this album is definitely fucking great for running. Been thinking I might go try to do a 5K as fast as I can while listening to side 1.
Next year is gonna be a wild tour year. I’ll almost be tempted to reach out to artists coming through to see if they want to do a solo acoustic set at my house or something for extra $$. Like a matinee gig idk. I feel like the rules are gonna be rewritten the next couple years.
