I absolutely loved this, felt like Fincher really taking the piss out of the sigma-grindset movie crowd (Drive, Nightcrawler, etc) and also just really fun to watch such a technical master take on pulpy airport thriller material with the same attention to detail he would anything else. Prob my fav movie of the year so far (granted haven't seen KOTFM yet)
and yes I would highly recommend seeing this in theaters before it's gone, whenever that is: there's a very visually dark sequence in the middle of this movie that is fucking awesome but Netflix compression is going to make it look like complete mush
Thought this was good. Nowhere near top-tier Fincher and I kind of felt like the ending just ran out of steam. But that huge guy fight is incredible and the atmosphere/vibes - Fincher makes it look so easy. Feel like at times Andrew Kevin Walker is channeling maybe too much Chuck Palahnuik in his script (even though it's not based on a Palahnuik property). I also can see a lot of people turning this off on Netflix about a half hour in because the ads make it look like some taut thriller.
Saw this a few weeks ago and was a little underwhelmed. I liked it but didn’t love it. Now that it’s on Netflix and I know what it’s going for I’ll give it another shot
I really wanted to love this, but so far have felt it was just “good.” This is something I’m sure I’ll regret putting in writing after some more time and repeated viewings, but that was my initial reaction coming out of the theater. Also, thank you for saying this because it literally made me buy a ticket last night and yeah, I’m glad I saw that in the proper format haha.
Over halfway and loving this. Just wanted to say how at one point Fassbender is wearing a nice fit where his shirt is coming out of his sweater and my wife always tells me not to do this and it looks bad. Can’t wait to show her the evidence that this can in fact be pulled off. Got her
This fuckin dork can’t listen to anything other than the Smiths? enjoyed this, didn’t blow me away. That fight scene rules but hated the shaky cam, would’ve been better without.
So many great moments. I think my favorite sequences were just showing his expertise and experience. Like when he gets paranoid about being followed at the airport. Changing his flight and sleeping in the corner with the glass on the hotel door handle.
Watching this again and so cool to see and realize he sent the package to the lawyers office from the DR so he had an in to the office when he follows the fedex guy delivering it
This was fine. Not at the highs of The Social Network or Zodiac but not at the lows of Gone Girl. There isn't really much to take from the film other than some brief commentary on how our attempts at safety and control are an illusion, but the stylized murders are fun enough.
