Yeah it’s super confusing. I get ads on Instagram from Junior Varsity and it really confused me at first.
there's also an old powerpop band called the varsity that i doubt anyone remembers, i found them through purevolume back in the day. i am not familiar with junior varsity, never heard of them, just TJV
Wide Eyed was a super important record for me, and I really like the other two albums too. New song is solid, though I guess the video is mostly AI?
Used to love this band I when I was 16. So much so that I wrote tried writing an APnet user review for Cinematographic lol AI music video is extremely wack but I’ll give the song a listen at some point
if anyone has never seen them live or wants to watch a live set from the comfort of their own home this is from one of their reunion shows in 2022!
Wide Eyed used to get a lot of play from me back in the day. It was one of the first bands I discovered by reading album liner notes. Though, now I can't remember what album they were mentioned in.
a week out on spotify and it has over 2K plays, not to shabby for a band that hasnt put out new music in 18 years!
The One Percent (Wide Eyed) by The Junior Varsity Another new song. I like it, but I wish they’d cool it on the AI art. At least it looks like AI to me, and the music video for the first song obviously is.
The jv are playing some shows this fall with Park and Tokyo Rose https://m.facebook.com/thejuniorvarsity/
