I love BOF 4, have played 3? Always wished they reboot the series with an actual new entry. I still hate that damn desert part in 4 though haha
I haven't played it in like 20 years but I remember it being enjoyable. Square's output of quality games between SNES and PS1 was unreal.
They changed the names for the US release which is FANTASTIC because the original names were dorky as hell.
beat vagrant story again the other day, game is still phenomenal. now i'm feeling a suikoden 1-2-3 run so gonna slowly go through that over the next...who knows how long. it's been a while since i've played 3 and although it's not an absolute classic like 2, i still love it so i'm pretty excited to get back to that in particular.
Still playing through the remastered .Hack. On the second game right now but took a little break to play through LA Noire to give myself a little change of pace.
i keep eyeing picking that up but then i know it’ll also get me down a deep hole of rewatching the anime too and just in general reminiscing about the franchise.
i have never experienced .Hack anything. does any of it hold up on it's own without going in with existing fondness?
Suikoden 1 was a very fun/solid game, although I only recruited like 80 of the 108 Stars. I never got to play 2 because a hard copy is absurdly $$$ and I don't have any devices with access to the PSN. One day...
I was planning on playing Suikoden 2 at some point but in the interest of time I was going to skip 1. Am I going to miss out on anything by going straight to 2?
2 stands on its own just fine, but it's even better with the backstory on the plot and returning characters from 1. There are some neat little bonuses for transferring a save from 1 to 2. 1 is not as good as 2 but it's fairly fast paced and also very short for a JRPG, can easily finish in ~20 hours even if you're a completionist on your first playthrough. Not required but I do recommend it.
Thanks! That's kind of the impression I got from what I'd heard about the series. Since it's on the shorter side I will probably play 1.
The anime is still fantastic. The game, I have a hard time recommending to newcomers. The dungeons are all look-a-likes and the combat is extremely simple and not very challenging. I still love the story but the gameplay still holds it back, especially from someone who’s never experienced it before.
There are so many series’ that I wish would be revived. And it’s sad that most of the time when they are, it’s either a garbage cell phone game/app or something along those lines. I would love to see a new Wild Arms game.
Forgot how much I loved this series despite some terrible controls. Parasite Eve was a strange deviation in the early age of Final Fantasy
Even you guys know I jump around on games. I forgot I had about 10 hours on a Suikoden II file so I picked it back up, so glad I did. I beat the first one last year and loved it. Love the continuation the sequel offers. Gameplay is so fun and the storyline is A++++
@Fucking Dustin I finished FFXV. I enjoyed it for most of the game, but towards the end my opinion kind of took a dive. Plot is overly complicated, especially after a late-game infodump (well this is FF), none of the characters are especially memorable or likeable, and I didn't feel like the gameplay was super rewarding. I say after putting 96 hours into it I started Nier Automata, didn't realize it was Galaga.
