Super old post (whoops) but I’m playing through Parasite Eve and it’s so good! I would love to see a remaster or something. The story is just too good to pass up.
I 100% agree with this. I was just thinking about that too actually. I have it on my Vita and it plays so well
Kind of. It's loosely a lot of different genres which is what makes it pretty cool. It's kind of like Resident Evil mixed with JRPG elements. It's funky and awesome and super creepy for it's time.
I know me and @Vase Full Of Rocks are the only two people in the world that like the Vita, but it's really great for playing PS One classics
I have modded both my PS and SNES Classics. They're basically just JRPG machines now. Also I'm about to beat Golden Sun for the 2nd time ever
I still love it. Not a good game but the combat/elemental system is pretty decent. That said, it's like 90% nostalgia for me.
Yeah I’d love to revisit it. The combat was pretty cool, and I remember specific towns within the game even now, so there must have been at least decent worldbuilding as well
Bumping this thread even though I'm only recently getting back into this stuff I was curious so I downloaded the Etrian Odyssey IV demo over the weekend and got so hooked I went out to get a used copy Super fun and punishing so far Also my OCD is making the map drawing mechanic real fun
The Switch is proving to be a godsend for the genre. After I finished Fire Emblem, all I want to do is play the remastered versions of Grandia, Dragon Quest, and the upcoming Star Ocean remake. Not to mention the new DQ this week...
The best era of JRPGs? Easily the SNES and later the PSX eras. You can't go wrong there. Here is a rough ranking of my favs: 1. Ogre Battle 64 2. Radiant Historia 3. Final Fantasy 9 4. Final Fantasy 4 5. Breath of Fire So far this year I haven't played much, I'm only recently - as in like the past year - playing videogames again. I've gone through Golden Sun (again), FE Three Houses, and the original Lunar on my PS Classic. I have started but unfinished files for Arc the Lad 2 and Lufia 2 (beat that one at least once). Need to do a second Three Houses run, finish the next Golden Sun (never did get around to it), and play some of the remastered stuff on the Switch. Ok that's a good conversation starter
Im re-running throough FF IX on the switch right now, I know the story well but i'm gonna be honest I have never beaten the final boss. It's really easy to blow through the game when you can skip cutscenes and dialogue and use fast forward mode lol.
I know i've said it before but I cannot stress it enough, anyone who consider themselves even remotely a JRPG thread needs to play DQ11
