I'm about six hours deep. Four characters in my party now (H'aanit, Therion, Alfyn, Primrose). Loving it so far and SO GLAD I picked it up rather than waiting - no game could possibly feel more geared towards my tastes than this. I've enjoyed each character's introduction, but I'm really excited to round out the team and get on to chapter 2 stuff. Past that, the world is stunning. I keep stopping for screenshots all over the place. The lighting really pushes this graphic style over the top. It's like the perfect blend of SNES, PSX, and current gen. Pretty much exactly what I'd want out of this type of game in terms of look.
I have no idea who I want to run. I just got the inquisitor guy, and it was tough choosing between Tressa and H'aanit for replacing. I feel like I need to keep Oberlin no matter what.
Yeah this game is a perfect storm of everything I love in my RPGs. It hits all the right notes so hard that I bought the console solely for this game. I resent SE for tailoring this game to me! /s As far as the game goes, I just finished everyone's first chapter at around the 12 hour mark. H'aanit is my main (if you couldn't tell by the avatar) and I'm sticking with Tressa, Alfyn, and Primrose to round out the party. I picked the unconventional classes to try something new. I plan on rotating out a 4th character whenever I get to their specific chapter.
H'aanit is my main, too. Her design is so good!! Honestly, I feel like her capture mechanic is almost...broken? Like breaking an enemy and capturing to end the battle and still getting EXP has me blazing through stuff.
I think her summoning beasts is balanced by the fact that the effects are random. Like, you can't choose which enemy to attack even if the summoned monster has a weapon that an enemy is weak to. Or how Linde will use Pounce when I want her to use Sweep...every time lol
What's your current setup? I'm using her as my main damage dealer. I plan on subbing her as a Warrior so she can cover bow/axe/spear/sword weaknesses. I'm using Alfyn as kind of a tank as well as a healer (his Concoct skill is super useful if you know how to use it). Primrose is more or less my support character, and she covers daggers/dark magic weaknesses. And rounding it out is Tressa with her wind/spear coverage...mostly because I just like her character lol
Ophilia is my main, which works out because I probably would have just went without a cleric and been fucked. Olberic seems like a requirement having Ophilia. Tressa because Dan said I'd like her, but ehh. Cyrus because I just got him. I haven't gotten Alfyn yet. Primrose was dead to me when I got her. Therion is just ehhhh. H'aanit will likely be put back in when I figure out my fourth situation.
Yeah I'm not big on Therion as a character but dammit his ability to steal literally everything and open the purple chests makes him essential
Got Tressa (main), Cyrus, and Olberic so far. Deciding between Primrose or Ophilia next. I like Cyrus' analyze skill but I might swap him out for someone else.
Got two secondary jobs so far. Running Ophilia as a paladin (knight/cleric) and H'aanit with hunter/cleric.
Should we have a separate thread for OT? I'm leaning towards no because there's this thread, the video games thread, and the Nintendo thread.
I'm too busy playing tasty weeb trash to care where you post OT stuff. It doesn't matter if it takes over this thread for a while because it's not like we're talking about much else right now haha
Gave Cyrus the merchant job just for coverage, but it was an awesome idea since it has an ability that halves SP usage.
Hmm I mean as an attacker she is strong with a good bow, now that you mention it she has been less effective as an attacker as I progress through.
I mostly use her to loot and now heal but if I need her to attack she can put down like 300 or 400 with a few strikes.
Scrolled back a while to see what game you guys were raving about. Looks like I’ve found my solution to lots of airport layovers in my near future!
