Love the verses and the arrangement overall but I HATE the choice they made for that chorus. In general the EP sounds huge compared to even newest release - which is a testament to how much she continues to fill out her sound. Wish the into the was longer and SHTC is still my fave of the bunch.
I think the chorus to "Dionne" sounds amazing *shrug* immediately one of my favorite TJH songs I mean... "Wishing that someone would film the way I'm looking at you right now, I wanna watch it back and then kill myself" jesus christ
That's barely a feature by Justin; more like "provide some super fuzzy background vocals that basically prevent you from understanding what's being said"
Like honestly how on earth does her music always sound so good? It always feels like she’s maximizing on a sonic space without ever sounding unnecessarily busy or over compressed. Throwing everything into the kitchen sink but in a very meticulous way
It’s likely because the majority of TJH fans are already familiar with the name Justin Vernon and know he’s the main player in Bon Iver. Exile was released into the mainstream where a large amount of people aren’t familiar with JV or the name Bon Iver. Thus making it easier for people not in the know to find more Bon Iver on Spotify or YouTube or whatever.
So I skipped the title track when it dropped last year and I have NO IDEA why I did that. Holy shit it's beautiful.
This EP is great. Anyone know if it’s getting a US vinyl pressing? Would rather not spend extra on shipping from the U.K. right now if possible. media: only about 15 bucks, not bad, I’ll probably just order it.
The Chewing Cotton Wool EP is hands down the best thing she’s down - transcendent stuff. very excited for her next release
