Yeah I love wrestling history, but even I can't make it though an hour of dudes talking in detail for an entire hour about every single thing WCCW did in March of 1981.
This was everything I wanted and needed it to be. Also lol at the Ric Flair portrayal. Glad they mocked that dude cause fuck that guy
thought this was so close to perfect but a few elements kinda held me back big time. it's still very very good but a little disappointing considering how much i anticipated it. one of the best of the year, still. but not thee best.
can't believe Fritz was even more evil irl, obviously realistic that a devoutly religious couple at that time would create intense generational trauma but it was still hard to watch also all I could think about was how generational trauma making you the best athlete is also the Ricky Bobby story
Just watched this, loved it. I could not believe I was looking at Zac Efron the entire time. He did an extraordinary job. I knew the story and this movie still really fucked me up. Fuck, this was good
Going in blind was definitely the way to go. Absolutely loved the college party scene and the afterlife moment truly moved me.
pretty much all of them are way more tragic irl. even ignoring the missing brother in this, kerry had multiple kids left behind and an ex wife and was a day away from being indicted for drug busts. david had an ex wife and multiple kids. kevin seems to be the only one that lined up kinda 1:1 with irl. not that i mind. they're allowed to flub some stuff. it would make sense considering they seem to appear to make them younger than they really were
I know a lot of people were upset they didn't include that Fritz losing his mind while dying of brain cancer holding a gun on Kevin telling him he was too much of a coward to kill himself like his brothers story that Kevin told on Dark Side of the Ring near the end.
