Forgot to check in after seeing this, incredibly moving movie. Good lord the boat scene is the hardest I've cried in the theater since First Man.
second viewing last night was just as brutal. flowed perfectly, not spending so much time on the actual moments of everyone dying.
This hasn't really left my mind since seeing it. The afterlife seen has only weighed heavier since seeing it. I loved it.
saw this tonight w/ wife and in laws. wife thought it was just a dude wrestling movie and just wanted to see it because of JAW. she was a fucking puddle at the end lol.
This was remarkable. And also remarkably depressing. I’ll never watch it again but I’ll think about a lot.
apparently this was a nod to one of the sentences in the note that was left behind IRL. It included the phrase “I’ll be watching”.
Luckily I warned my wife going in that it was supposed to be sad because before that she thought it would just be a fun sports movie with Zac efron
This was really good but also really depressing. Wrestling is not really my thing (I’ll watch with my friends when we are hanging out and a match is on but wouldn’t watch on my own) but I still had an enjoyable time seeing this! Efron, White, and Dickinson were great choices for this. Also, whoever played the dad is a really great actor. I didn’t recognize him but he killed it!
He was probably the most dedicated on this cast too from what I read. He was the only one who sought out wrestling training on his own before he got on set, and for research he would listen to those 40 hour super pedantic wrestling history podcasts usually only the nerdiest of pro wrestling nerds listen to.
The F did you just call me??? Kidding, even I don’t do those crazy long podcasts. But yes Holt is excellent, especially in MindHunter
