The length of this I know won't be an issue for myself since I more than managed Once Upon a Time in America which is twenty minutes longer, my only concern is that I won't get the chance to see it at the cinema.
guess I should be grateful for living in the cesspool called NYC and was able to see it easily in a theater. thought it was terrific. runtime is not an issue every minute is earned. all 3 leads being this good so late in the game is astounding. Go Marty Go
Incredible stuff, going to take a long time to digest. Transcendent performances from the lead 3 actors but i found myself craving Pesci on the screen most of all. In some ways i feel like it’s the anti-Goodfellas
A cool old theater in Buffalo is gonna play it, I’ll probably go, but sorta worried about how the seats aren’t comfy for a movie this long haha
ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
can't get over just how incredible Pesci is in his, he's the center of the film and holds it all together, everything that happens in essence flows through his character. the way he conveys emotions through various versions of subtle facial expressions is just astounding
I haven't seen this yet, but with what you are saying, it makes sense that Scorsese pushed so hard to try to get him to sign on to this project.
The raves for Pesci are encouraging, as so much of the conversation and the trailers were about the DeNiro/Pacino dynamic. Pesci is known for his hotheaded roles, but a lot of his best work was outside of that. He brings such an empathy to his role in Raging Bull, especially his last scene where he accepts Jake back into his life.
