I just looked it up. Yeah he wrote the main theme too. It looks like he is doing all of the show's music and will be dropping Part 1 of the official soundtrack on 6/30.

 

Watched episode 1, expected to like it more but not sure yet... Abel's acting wasn't very good... Troye's acting... Not great either. Dialogue feels kinda like a parody which I think is also kinda the point half the time. I'll probably keep watching but I'm not quite hooked

 

Oh wow that's quick. Also a bad strategy to announce it now, people will stop watching if they know there's no pickup

 

I had the impression it would be like a one season thing anyway. Hopefully it tells a complete story.

Being tagged in this thread earlier caused me to watch the first parts of this episode after Gemstones ended and Depp’s daughter’s friend/body person/whoever she is that was trying to warn Hank Azaria about the brainwashing is really cute. That’s all I got.

 

The Weeknd is a great singer wtf??

 

I will say it is a little immersion breaking having his singing over a quarter/third of the episode

I would love to see the 80 percent of this that was scrapped that Amy Seimetz was involved in and if it was as gross/bad/self indulgent as this.

 

This show is really a bummer. I wish it was an Entourage-style show about the music industry and the various trials and tribulations of a major pop star, her team, etc. Instead it's well.....you've all seen the headlines.

 

BTW, if there's any positive to come from this, hopefully Moses Sumney gets some streaming bumps.
