Not sure how I felt about Ep1. Something felt off with the dialogue of her team when they were discussing the leaked pic. I’ll give it a few more episodes but now sure I’m feeling this.
Having Hank Azaria do an accent in this was such a dumb move. Its like hearing a live action Simpsons character and its so distracting.
This is pretty bad. There’s a solid idea in here but everything about this has been shit especially the writing.
This show sucks. I’ll give Lily Rose-Depp credit for giving the material more nuance and emotion than it deserves. But this is like elevated Red Shoe Diaries.
I’m gonna watch eps 2 tonight, from the comments seems like the writing is still not great. I’ve never watched Euphoria, but is the writing much better there? I thought this was the same creative team.
the writing in the sex scene of last night's episode is like a horny teen boy wrote it, it's so fucking bad.
I think the writing is great in Euphoria but I also really like what this show is doing. Both seem pretty similar to me in terms of being pretty over the top and exaggerated versions of reality. They're telling different stories though and we're only two episodes into this so it's hard to compare when I don't know where this will end up. I think Euphoria season 2 especially was more impressive to me as a whole.
I am a fan of the 80's/90's erotic sleaze aesthetic. I like Showgirls for example. This is just a terrible execution of that.
Nah you guys are the weird ones that make everything about sex overly horny lol Kinda like this dude, from what I hear!
Now I think I'm gonna watch Showgirls or Basic Instinct tonight to get some real Verhoevan ass sleazecore.
2nd ep was considerably better than the first. Yea, that Weeknd dialogue is cringey during the sex scene, but it didn’t feel outrageous, felt like a drunk hookup.
I don’t watch as much TV as I used to. But I can still recognize bad writing when I see and this has a lot of bad writing.
The Weeknd looks like he argues with people on the internet about underground fantasy novel series or some shit.
I watched like 3 more seasons of Girls after I knew I hated it just because it was something to watch on Sunday nights. Will probably do the same with this tbh.
The Weeknd said the scene where he shows up in the first ep at the gates, he wanted it to seem like he was Dracula and it’s that level of cornball seriousness that will keep me coming back.
Hi acting is laughable. I know his ego wouldn't allow it, but they really should have hired a real actor for that role. How are we supposed to believe this guy is charismatic enough to lure all these people into his universe?
