what were the floors before? Toying with the idea of redoing mine in this old 1930’s home. I have old hardwood on two floors. It’s in great shape in terms of looks but it’s SO creaky & loud.
Has anyone ever had to paint, or touch up their ceiling? The guys who did my kitchen really did a number on our ceiling. They had to cut out a lot more holes than originally expected to put in new lighting. They put in new drywall and textured the ceiling but they did not prime or paint it (wasn't in the contract - which I am now regretting). I'm wondering if I can get away with just priming/painting those particular sections and it all blend in, or will I have to re-paint the entire ceiling in order for everything to match.
We had crappy lament. It was really bad lots of damages and the fridge we had broke last summer so tons of water damage.
New tea spot, who dis. Not sure if I'll keep it like this but it feels nice for now! I'm moving and everything is everywhere but I got my tea sorted at least
Also world market had 50% off red sticker clearance items. I'd been eyeing a few things but passed on them, and they were all still available but this time half price! Got a nice mirror originally $124 for like $45 cause i also had a coupon. And super cute drinking glasses for $3 each and some bowls and plates because my bf keeps breaking our and sometimes I've been having to use Tupperware lids instead of plates lol. I wanna frame my receipt for prosperity! Edit: lol def meant posterity but I'm keeping it
Idk what it says about my maturity in my home decor taste but I often enjoy children's furniture and it's usually cheaper! Just got this coat rack lol And I bought a kids bath mat from target recently. It was cheaper than the ones for adult bathrooms and it doesn't even look like it's meant for kids imo. It's a lil bit smaller maybe which worked out great cause it was for the small bathroom without much room
The one good thing about breaking up and having to move is that this is the first time in my life where I’ll have an entire apartment to furnish on my own. I have a big fear that I’ll get lazy and just live in a bare apartment with bare walls and minimal furniture, so I’m doing my best to avoid that. For the kitchen, I’m thinking either this or this. I’m taking measurements tonight and I’m hoping I can make the rectangular table work just because it’s larger. Both are on sale on Etsy until tonight so I have to make a quick decision. I also want a portable kitchen island - is that generally a weird thing to add to a kitchen if you already have a kitchen table? Or does that not matter? Does anyone have couch recommendations? I’m thinking either the Jollene in grey or the IKEA Kivik. As for a dresser, there’s one for sale on EQ3 that I might go for, but I know nothing about their quality, so if anyone has a solid dresser recommendation, I’m all ears. Also, any affordable rug recommendations would be appreciated! I’m going to need a few.
Not weird, unless you have a lot of counter space already I guess You have to be either lucky (or get a good tip I guess) or spend a lot of money to find a better couch than you can get at Ikea
Assuming you’re living by yourself, I’d go with the small round kitchen table - especially if you plan on a portable island.
Maybe it’s a generational thing, but I feel like kitchen tables are a thing of the past, haha. I have been living in the same house since 2014 and I can’t recall one time where me, my wife or our two kids ever all ate a meal together at our kitchen table. We finally got rid of our kitchen table all together last year when we remodeled our kitchen and just put in a big island. Even the island we never really eat meals at (I do, and my daughter does) but my wife and son always just eat at a table in the living room - as do I sometimes.
Got the round table! Going to order a small movable island as well (thinking this one: https://www.crateandbarrel.com/belmont-white-kitchen-island/s171376) but have to wait a little because I’ve already been spending way too much money on this move.
your comment about about living in a bare apartment hits home. I have so many blank walls in this house. I have to force myself to care in order to do anything about it.
I must be old school. Food is eaten in the dining room, eating where you sit/lay down is gross as hell to me.
So I used to want to decorate my spaces with exclusively creepy stuff. I’m now at a point where I would prefer to have mostly cute/happy things, but my new apartment has a mudroom with a window that looks into my creepy, old-smelling (in a good way) pantry, so I’ve decided to devote the window shelf to all the creepy things I’ve accumulated. The Edison lamp is plugged into a smart plug and I’m gonna set it on a motion detector. Now I’m kinda wishing I didn’t get rid of the skulls and skeletons I had before I moved! WIP.
