  1. I've paid less than 100 the last two months in utilities for my house since it's been so mild.

I have a three-bedroom house - two floors plus a basement. My electricity, water and sewer (one combined bill each month) is typically between $120 and $160. Not awful. My neighborhood has a Facebook grouppage and every month people post their bills online bitching on how expensive they are, like, some people are posting bills that are between $400-$600 and I'm wondering what the fuck they are doing inside their homes.

It was very poorly insulated. She was constantly doing laundry and leaving the hallway light on when nobody was home but aside from that she wasn't actually home much.

How much does leaving a light on actually increase your utilities? It can't be THAT much...

Well it could be, I really have no idea, haha.

With it being so sunny so late I like never turn on the lights lately which is nice. I doubt it's that big of an impact tho. If I can just chill on my food consumption I could get all my expenses fairly low lol.

Depending on the age/efficiency of your dryer, it definitely could have a solid impact. Washer shouldn't do much unless your using hot water and you have electric heat.

I have oil..fml. Trying to convert to gas next summer.

Until this month, my bill has been $60-90 per month. I left the AC off whenever possible and opened windows. Now it's way too hot for that and my bill has doubled

Its so hot I'm gonna have to cave with the A.C. soon. Hoping since I'll barely be home up until August that I can hold off. My windows don't have screens and I'd rather melt away than deal with the influx of bugs

better than paying a flat rate of $362 a month in condo fees. I just leave the lights and taps on to get my moneys worth.

Since this is also the housekeeping thread I thought I try some questions for y'all

Which bathroom cleaner works best for you? I've tried several types like, method both regular and foam, kaboom, and I just recently bought scrubbing bubbles foam cleaner and seventh generation cleaner. The ones I've used seemed to still make my shower look dirty no matter how many time I clean it, I even use a grout brush.

For what? Floors? Shower walls? I use the Magic Eraser on the shower walls, seems to work great. For the floor, I use something similar to the 7th Gen stuff you mentioned. Or a mix of bleach and water.

Mainly the walls of the shower and sink counter since its the same type of type. Scrubbing bubbles seems to be working so far. Magic eraser didn't seem to work for the grout last time, I know bleach should do the job and kill any mold, but I didn't have cleaning bleach. I currently use Better Life brand for my floor.

It's insane how affordable houses are outside where I live. That same house around here would easily be 250k

That's crazy. This is definitely the cheapest house I've looked at, some were around $145k, but any higher than that and I wouldn't have been able to get a loan. I wonder if lenders take the market into consideration, or are people with less credit just out of luck?
