You have to find a way out.” “You can’t live in anguish your whole life.” Expand - View Original
Really digging this so far. I was sure the hype was overblown, and almost didn't listen, but I am glad I did. Also, the write up is a good one, worth the time to read.
really excited to check this out. only discovered these guys a couple months ago from this site, so i feel a little bit like i've cheated compared to some of you faithfuls
finished it about 10 minutes ago. probably the best first album listen ive ever had. Not a hyperbole.
Really cool write up, but I'm so confused by why Christian is always pluralized when referred to with a pronoun.
I think if Brand New and Blink 182 did a co-headline show with The Hotelier as the opener, this site would break the internet. All great bands, but they seem to on a different level in regards to site popularity.
Christian uses gender-neutral pronouns (that is to say they/their). A little background info for you, though since I'm traveling I can't find the best link at the moment, but hopefully it will help. Gender Pronouns | LGBT Resource Center
I did not realize "Housebroken" was about police brutality, but it makes sense. I always assumed it was about seeing a friend in an abusive relationship. Although, I suppose police brutality in America can be considered an abusive relationship.
Two Deliverances and End Of Reel are my jams! This whole thing is great, though. So much energy and care was put in to it.
It wasn't working for me in Chrome on my desktop, but I've got it kicking off my phone. edit: Coup is an awesome game, was excited to see it mentioned in the article
You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves. Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine. Meanwhile the world goes on. Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain are moving across the landscapes, over the prairies and the deep trees, the mountains and the rivers. Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air, are heading home again. Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting - over and over announcing your place in the family of things. Mary Oliver, "Wild Geese"
It's good. It's great. It's melancholy and beautiful and I can't wait to have all the lyrics so I can really appreciate it, which is what I've been doing with Home for the last couple years.
I'd be interested to see if it gets a different response too. Honestly, it's always been one of my favorites from the record and I was kind of surprised when I saw negativity towards it on here.
Feel like the stream should've been up sooner, but oh well. Worth the wait. Edit... I take that back, thought it was out this week, not next.
