Yeah some people declare albums as their AOTY before they've ever heard it and then are mentally prepared to believe that.
But at the same time if you know you love a band I get that you will probably love their new stuff. It would have to be a disaster to feel otherwise.Cough Cope Cough cough
i see what you guys are saying, but i mean, lets make sure we're not making it seem like people that were excited about this album are blindly following a cult. it isnt that unheard of to know/think youll like an album before youve heard the whole thing when the band has a couple singles, played other songs live, theres a song on here that weve had for a while now (settle the scar). also keep in mind, 3 months ago half of this album was live streamed. people did know they would like this album to some degree. not trying to argue, i just wont want the vibe of like "well yeah this albums good, but people wouldnt even admit it was bad if it was bad" - and i thats not the vibe im getting from yall - i just dont want it to get there. i dno if im making sense lol.
Eh I get what you all are saying but I go into an album that I've hyped like this wanting to like it - expecting to like it, and worrying that I won't, so my initial reaction normally won't be a hyperbolic as for an album I didn't expect to like or wasn't hyped for which can easily surprise me. It can only live up to my expectations and not exceed them, if that makes sense (probably doesn't lol)
Nah, that makes sense. I always find my first listens of albums I'm really anticipating to be somewhat underwhelming, and they take a few more listens to hit completely. Albums I don't see coming can hit right away though.
Yeah I'm not criticizing anyone for staying they were going to love this and then loving it. It's a great record. That being said the new AGO is my AOTY!!!
If I am getting goosebumps from listening to songs and have a huge smile on my face the entire time I'm pretty sure I like it bc it's an incredible piece of art.
I honestly could see them beating this just bc Nathan is such an incredible artist and I don't think he has peaked yet
All Get Out I wish. Agreed. Despite not having much of a discography I feel like they are my favourite band so I am hoping/expecting that it will be my AOTY
Thinking about having Nathan mix my bands lp. Big fan of his work Sorry this should be a post about the best record I've heard in years ha... We will chat more in the ago thread
Definitely agree. I know this is a small thing but those extra snare hits after Goodness and End of Reel are the most pointless snare hits I've ever heard and drive me nuts. And I know everyone loves it but Sun is also a miss for me.
I like that they make fun of themselves... it's healthy and wise to do so that's how this album feels to me, wise and ligh and heavy at the same time
btw, I added Goodness pt. 1 at the beginning of the album, and I quite like it there... I think it could also be tucked at the end and work as a reprise of some sorts... I mean, the fucking snare hits at the end mean fuck all
