You in his light is really a grower, 3rd of 4th listen it was in my top 5 songs for the record, it started in my bottom half
Is there a song that's in a minor key on this record? Soft animal? Might be the only one... Never thought I would love a record that's basically all in major this much
I think two deliverences, settle the scar, end of sun, and soft animal are just as strong as anything on home.. I do think they make you wait for the hooks more.. Last record was kind of like one giant incredible hook.. This is more patient but I think the payoffs may actually be stronger.
This is wonderful, I listened to Piano Player a few times the day it was released and Soft Animal once prior to this so all of the other songs are new Obviously need to sit with the lyrics but this is hitting pretty hard
First listen through, really enjoyed it. Tough balancing this with the Pup record coming out yesterday as well lol. Big fan of Home, will give this repeated listens over the next couple weeks.
I definitely think they seem bigger in this community, than they actually are.. I'm sure a lot of that is bc absolutepunk ranked home no 1 in 2014.. Hell thats why I listened to them.. Now im obsessed... Christians voice is an acquired taste for sure so idk I think those are some of the reasons... If you don't pay attention to lyrics and just listen they may seem like your normal pop punk/ emo band
I actually think this is more accessible than home.. Might bring in new fans that then go back and listen to home and say to themselves... Wow
I think they'll get a little bigger with this release to the point that they at least play something larger than my local DIY safe space venue but it's not like they have a sound that will be filling arenas. I could see them having a large cult following though.
The band feels a lot bigger now that Home is recognized by so many people. Back when they only had INGO, the band was seriously unknown. I remember trying to show them to people and getting so many "meh, pop punk" receptions. They are definitely growing at a stupid rate. In a year, they went from playing to a show of <50 people in Chicago to filling the Beat Kitchen which has a capacity of 275.
Everything I start to write about this just seems stupid or hyberbole and I can't gather my thoughts properly right now, so I'll just say that I love this album and it hit me way differently than a lot of other albums have recently and I can't really put it in comparison with a lot of other stuff that came out this year for that reason I'll say that I've connected with this on first listen more than I ever did with Home
Yeah, so this album is pretty incredible. Also, I'm not sure that I've ever seen the universal acclaim, with this community at least, like there is with this band.
It's way too soon to be thinking this way but hard to imagine where they would go next after this record haha, also it's a shame bc now they have two incrediblely different records to top.. Wouldn't be surprised if they sit on this one for a while
This is really, really good. Wow. Wow. Exactly what I wanted. I will not be eloquent in my enthusiasm of this record for some time, so I'll just stop there.
